-On-the-spot report of the Sino-Japanese children's island adventure summer camp

By chance, I heard a new thing: A few months ago (that is, in the summer of 199 1), 42 primary and middle school students led by the "Ant and Cricket" school in Miyazaki and Fukuoka held an adventure summer camp in Qingdao, China. The Japanese invited 50 Japanese students to participate in the so-called Sino-Japanese Children's Adventure Summer Camp. It is said that many interesting stories happened in the summer camp.

This information attracted me at once. However, I am also very surprised why I didn't see such fresh and ingenious news about children in newspapers and TV. Almost at the same time as the adventure summer camp, I am flying to Xinjiang. While waiting at the Capital Airport, some old Japanese ladies sitting next to me smiled at me politely. So, I nodded and smiled in a friendly way. At this time, I was taken aback: the sign worn by the old Japanese lady on her chest impressively read: "Tianshan Cycling Adventure Tour Group". No wonder several old ladies can't hide their pride. Who has ever seen an old lady dare to ride a horse in Tianshan Mountain? Now, I got the news that Japanese children came to China to explore. What does this portend?

Coincidentally, 10 Beijing primary school students participated in the Sino-Japanese youth adventure summer camp, and their leader was actually my old friend, Wu Hui, the vice principal and senior teacher of a primary school in the National Meteorological Administration. 10 Most students have entered middle school and are facing a tense final review exam. However, Mr. Wu Hui called them back and enthusiastically accepted my interview.

Talking about that experience, the students were deeply moved, saying that it was a unique summer camp and an unforgettable summer camp. The question I want to ask is simple: where is "different"? What do you mean "unforgettable?"

Fukuoka and Miyazaki Miyako are Japanese coastal cities, and they can enjoy a modern and affluent life anywhere. Why did the Japanese send their children to coastal cities in China? If it is understandable to see exotic scenery, why do they choose a small island in the sea outside Qingdao?

Qingdao is a world-famous port city, surrounded by the sea on three sides and connected with Chinese mainland on one side. As early as about 100 years ago, when the Germans were preparing to occupy this beautiful and rich land, they sent people to conduct a secret and serious geographical investigation. German experts believe that Qingdao (then called Jiaoao) is the best port choice for China. 1897165438+1October, Germany sent marines to occupy Qingdao. The name of Qingdao was named by German emperor William II. However, the German dream didn't last long. 19 14, World War I broke out. The Japanese had long wanted to occupy Qingdao, so they drove the Germans away while they were busy in the European battlefield and became the new overlord of Qingdao. Later, although American troops invaded Qingdao, it was only a few years. However, the Japanese ruled Qingdao for nearly 16 years! 16, how can Japan, which has always been greedy, not show its talents?

Today, Qingdao has become an important window for China to open to the outside world and a tourist hotline city in China. Seagulls as white as snow are flying on the blue sea. Under the navigation tower, the fairy plays the piano; Bailidi, red tiles and green trees. Fantastic dreamland, poetic feelings, which wanderer does not revel in the golden beach? The shame of the colony seems to have been washed away by the waves and disappeared into fine bubbles.

The children from Beijing are so happy! After the exam, I was admitted to a key middle school and will soon live a romantic life in Qingdao. Who can be luckier than them? In the sleeping car of the train, they chewed chicken and ham, drank Sprite and chatted excitedly.

This 10 senior three students are all children's primary schools of the National Meteorological Administration. The bureau attaches great importance to this activity, and specially approves 3000 yuan as the expense of 10 children. The cost of leading the teacher is borne by Japan. Therefore, they have no worries. To say that there is a problem, parents are not at ease: is it okay for children to go out for the first time? A student's mother almost came.

It's time to get off. They threw away leftover eggs and other food and stayed in the first-class hotel in Qingdao-Huanghai Hotel. Only one road away from the crowded first bathing beach.

In the land of China, the people of China are naturally the masters. Therefore, 50 China children were arranged to meet Japanese friends. Children in Beijing told me that they never expected to see such an unforgettable scene! Teacher Wu Hui couldn't help describing the scene for me several times.

142 Japanese children and teachers came to China by boat. The largest camper 14 years old, and the youngest is only 9 years old. However, when they got off the boat, no matter how big or small, each of them came down in turn with his big travel bag on his back. Oh, my God! Those 9-year-old Japanese girls, carrying big travel bags that are almost taller than themselves, move slowly like little turtles. However, it is obvious that they are tenacious and unyielding, and no one calls. Instead of helping a group of children, a group of young Japanese teachers got off the boat with their travel bags.

Wu Hui, a teacher standing in the dock, has wet eyes. She is thinking: If this is a group of China children; What if this scene is seen by their parents or grandparents?

In detail, Qingdao is indeed an ideal city for holding summer camps. It has many bathing beaches for people to swim in; There are many scenic spots here, such as aquarium, trestle bridge and Qindao, for people to enjoy. It also has many hotels, villas and seafood dishes for people to enjoy; It even has a high-level youth summer camp base ... but these Japanese teachers who came across the Yellow Sea were not interested in the excellent facilities on it, so they chose Xiaotong Island, an isolated island on the sea that even a new generation of Qingdao people were quite unfamiliar with.

The older generation of Qingdao people are no strangers to the name official road. 1In August, 945, Japan announced its unconditional surrender. 654381October 9, the 6th Division of the US Marine Corps, under the leadership of Major General Commander Xie Boer, landed from Qingdao Guandao by warship. This marks the history of the US military's blatant invasion of China's territory, starting with the management of the island.

True to its name, Little Guam is a very small island, located in Jimo Sea, with an area of only 0.8 square kilometers and surrounded by the sea. There are only 17 fishermen on the island, who make a living by fishing and growing crops.

13-year-old boy Dong Zhiyu said with emotion when talking about his impression of the summer camp: "Japanese goods are everywhere!"

China children live in Huanghai Hotel, watch Japanese color TV and use Japanese refrigerator. Going to a restaurant for dinner, Dong Zhiyu, with the air conditioner on, felt a little cold. When he turned it off, he found that the air conditioner and the cooling tower were written in Japanese. When they took Japanese children to the official camp, the 13 bus they took was Hino's car!

Hearing this, Teacher Wu Hui shared the same feeling and said, "Japanese teachers once organized students to come to Beijing to count Japanese cars, which made the Japanese proud. They are also conducting patriotic education! "

However, the Japanese did not bring modern ships. Under the guidance of teachers, 0/92 students from China and Japan/KLOC-boarded Little Guam in seven ordinary motor boats after an hour and a half of sea bumps.

Since it is called adventure summer camp, courage and wisdom are indispensable. Then, in such an undisclosed and irregular competition or competition, who scored higher among China teenagers or Japanese teenagers?

For a long time, many Japanese people used to call China and Japanese "Little Japan". This is probably because Japan's territory is small and the Japanese are short, coupled with some contempt and even hatred. What is the actual situation in Japan today?

1986 from April to July, Chinese and Japanese researchers conducted a physical survey on nearly 10,000 students from primary school to university in Beijing and Tokyo. The results show that the weight of male students in China is 0.9-3.8kg lighter than that of Japanese students after 7 years old. In most age groups, compared with China students, Japanese students have the characteristics of shoulder width, chest width, thick legs and thick arms. Experts believe that the poor physical fitness of China students has a lot to do with the fact that the physical exercise time is obviously shorter than that of Japanese students.

At present, the children of the two countries gather together, and the abstract contrast is transformed into the image contrast.

192 Chinese campers are divided into 14 classes, and each class has a Japanese teacher. Teachers, in fact, most of them are students of the University of Education, and they are also interns invited by the "Ant Cricket" school to help. Dong Zhiyu, Ge Yi, Duan Heng, Cai Xiang and Yi Sen, five Beijing campers and seven Japanese campers form a class. The teacher of Class One is a fourth-grade student of Fukuoka University of Education. His name is An Tian Huang Yi.

An Tian is of medium height and looks amiable. He is wearing a dark blue jacket and suspenders, with golden eagle logo on his chest and back. After landing, he immediately took the list to visit the domestic campers. Maybe Dong Zhiyu is tall. An Tian walked up to him, squatted down and asked him to point out his name and read it again. The Japanese teacher listened carefully, wrote it down in a notebook in Japanese Pinyin, and read it again. He smiled and shook hands with the China teenager and said in Chinese, "Thank you!" -As soon as he recognized the campers in China, he gestured for everyone to choose the camping site and prepare the camping tent. Then he left, as if the campers were experienced soldiers, so there was no need to struggle.

Children from both countries will soon get familiar with it. Although the language is unreasonable, you can still communicate with gestures, expressions and eyes. A 12-year-old Japanese child, Yasushi Okuda, is a very trendy teenager: jeans, flowered shirt, red socks, black shoes, hair spray and a pair of ultra-wide sunglasses. He waved like a chivalrous man and led everyone up the hill.

On the small tube island, although the mountain is not high, it is densely forested and full of thorns. Undaunted, Yasuo Okuda drew his bow from left to right and pushed the scattered thorns to the east and west. But China children don't have that kind of horizontal strength. They observed it for a while, then pulled open the thorns one by one and moved forward carefully. They are very strange; Is Yasuhiro Okuda not afraid of stabbing?

After a while, they got lost and were cut off by a wall three or four meters high. Yasuma Okuda didn't say anything, didn't make any gestures, jumped "Teng" and jumped! China's children, although most of them are older than him, are so scared that they stick out their tongues and blink their eyes that no one dares to follow suit. Finally, step by step around the edge.

China's children came to the seaside, where the beach was flat and soft. Cann't it be used as a camp? They excitedly reported to Mr. Huang Yi. Miss Huang Yi looked at the seaside, shook her head and spoke some English. Seeing that the children in China didn't hear clearly, they gestured with various gestures and said: It will rain tonight, and the wind at the seaside must be very strong. Living here will freeze you. Later, they chose the camp on the hillside, where the high ground can protect against rain and the leeward can keep warm.

Next, there is a tent. All the materials are carried by Japanese campers, including plastic mats, sleeping bags, rainproof cloth, cardboard, bamboo poles, adhesive tapes, etc. This is all the luggage. Teacher Huang Yi first drew a picture to show how many people have a tent. Then, he picked up a piece of cardboard, rolled it into a long piece of paper, taped it, and made a tent pole. Japanese children immediately followed, and no one spoke, as if they were busy completing an urgent task. China children are still chasing the teacher to ask questions, and they have studied the division of labor for a while before starting to do it. This dawdle, Japanese children made five or six paper tubes.

The dark night has arrived on the small tube island. The Japanese child turned on the light on his hat and went on working like a little miner. China children's hats don't have lights. Girls should use flashlights to make them for boys. Children who have been nervous for a day are sleepy and tired, and want to fall asleep very much. Even closing their eyes for a while is a great enjoyment. However, at 9: 30 in the evening, Mr. Huang Yi came, dissatisfied with the quality of the children's production, and ordered rework. China's children scolded in their hearts: Little Japan is so cruel! However, it is useless to scold, so we have to work hard for another two hours.

What makes people laugh and cry is that instead of using paper tubes soaked in children's sweat, Teacher Huang Yi tied the four corners of the tarpaulin to four trees, so that everyone could spread plastic sheets and drill sleeping bags. Until the end of the summer camp, Dong Zhiyu still didn't figure it out: Why did Miss Huang bother us like that?

Sleeping on a grassy hillside is definitely the first time for many children in China. A girl in Beijing was afraid to lie down at first because she saw a four-legged snake running past her. Teacher Wu Hui had to help her courage again and again, pulling the zipper of her sleeping bag to her neck. However, when asked the next morning, the girl didn't sleep at all and spent the night in fear!

Teacher Wu Hui and her students began to understand that the Japanese sent their children to China for adventure summer camp, not for pleasure, but for suffering.

The next morning, when the children came to the dining place hungry, they were not greeted by milk, eggs and high-grade bread, but by pots and pans and piles of dry wood. This silent language tells the child: Do you want to eat? Do it yourself

In his diary on August 8, Dong Zhiyu recorded how they learned to make a fire: "If you want to make water, you must make a fire. Making a fire can be a big problem. Liquefied gas is usually burned at home. Just strike a match. Don't say one now, ten matches can't light a wood. Walking around is Miss Wu. She lit a big piece of paper with a match first, and then led the hay. While the fire was raging, she added some fine firewood, which was lit, and finally added coarse firewood. Teacher Wu told us while burning the fire:' firewood should also be added scientifically. If you add less, the fire will not be strong, and if you add more, the fire will be crushed. The best way is to stagger the firewood horizontally and vertically, but leave a gap in the middle to fill it with enough air, so that the fire will burn more and more brightly. "Sure enough, in less than half an hour, a pot of water was opened. We are really happy to eat our own instant noodles. "

He didn't write, if there is no teacher Wu present, how to eat this instant noodle for breakfast, but it is conceivable.

Japanese children are also busy boiling water. Xi Hou, a 9-year-old girl, is wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt and a white embroidered wide collar. She looks petite and always plays with a yellow balloon. But when she started working, it was like a different person. She took the initiative to carry water, but she didn't scream when she fell, and actually brought back a big bucket of water. I don't know. Where did she get her strength? Since then, China's children have called her "Little A Xin" with admiration.

What surprised China children most was that when it was time to eat, Japanese children pulled out knives to cut chopsticks. It turns out that each of them has a half-foot-long folding knife, which is inserted at the waist or hung on the chest to cut down trees and firewood. China children are more cautious, and have prepared tableware, or brought chopsticks or stainless steel spoons. Japanese children, on the other hand, will find branches and cut a pair of chopsticks before every meal. Little A Xin is no exception. "Cha-""Cha-"142 Japanese children are playing games with their heads down and their faces focused. "Ah, it's bleeding!" I don't know which China child let out a scream, and China children had a slight commotion. The Japanese child who cut his hand just poured out the blood and continued to cut without looking up. The morning in Little Guam was quiet, except for the sound of chopping chopsticks: "Cha Cha-"

Teenagers in China give themselves low marks. They are convinced that this is open competition; They are not convinced and say that this is the result of "heredity"!

The summer camp decided to explore Rabbit Island.

Rabbit island is a small island in the sea, only a quarter of the small tube island. No one lives on the whole island.

Chinese and Japanese teachers have different opinions: Japanese teachers advocate paddling with car tires to let children really experience the taste of adventure; Teacher China firmly opposed it, saying it was too dangerous.

There was also an argument between Chinese and Japanese children: Yasuo Okuda and "Little A Xin" waved their arms for a while and made a gesture of wearing a swimsuit for a while, meaning "Let's swim over"; Ge Yi and Duan Heng immediately shook their heads and waved their hands, because they couldn't swim at all and the wind and waves were so big.

At the end of the argument, China's plan was adopted-by boat. Before making the final decision, several Japanese teachers tried to take their tires to the seaside and were beaten back by the wind and waves.

In the early morning of August 9, the children of the two countries got up and didn't even have time to stretch. They went by boat with water and dry food on their backs. The wind roared, the waves came and went, and the small fishing boat staggered on the waves. It feels like riding a roller coaster-but it's safe and no one can guarantee it. Ten thousand tons of ships are in danger of sinking, not to mention this shabby wooden boat! Thankfully, I finally landed on Stone Rabbit Island.

In midsummer, the sun on Rabbit Island roars like a fireball. Several beautiful tents have become the best refuge for campers. However, when Wu Hui sat down, her heart was vaguely uneasy.

Thinking of this, she said to me:

"I sat for a while, only to suddenly find that most of the children and teachers hiding in the tent are from China! Japanese children wear sportswear, jeans and Chiante rubber shoes. Can it not be hot? But they are all outside the tent, and they don't come in anyway. Why are children in China so delicate?

"However, I am also very contradictory. What trouble can a child get sunburned? From this point of view, I don't want them to get sunburned. So I took the initiative to call the children in Beijing into the tent, but they also became disobedient. ...

Beijing children are already familiar with Japanese children, even to the point of calling each other nicknames. China's cuisine is the most famous-"Cai (Cai) steamed stuffed bun; Li Na is called "Sydney", and Japanese girl Xihou has another nickname besides "Little A Xin"-"Tomato"; There are also two Japanese girls named "Big Pineapple" and "Big Bartender". Interestingly, nicknames are not only less language barrier, but also very friendly. Japanese children shouted "vegetable buns" in groups, chasing Cai Xiang to nowhere to hide.

Dong Zhiyu, who saw the sea for the first time, was deeply impressed by his trip to Rabbit Island, saying it was the most thrilling day.

He wrote:

"The west of Rabbit Island is the most violent place of the storm. The big waves rolled in and made a deafening sound. With the courage of' newborn calves are not afraid of tigers', we came to a rock that was smoothly washed by big waves. In the distance, a huge wave is gestating. Sure enough, with the rumble from far to near, a formidable wave appeared before our eyes. The wave was more than 8 meters high. It rolled towards us and hit the rock with a bang. We were soaked to the skin. Just when the waves hit me, they almost threw me into the sea! I was really scared at that moment, but I felt really happy afterwards!

"Looking at the vast sea and the vast sky, my heart is full of love for nature."

Dong Zhiyu's feelings are undoubtedly true and representative. Imagine living in a city far away from nature, noisy environment and the pressure of further education. Children are like caged birds. Now, when they embrace the waves, how can they not be filled with emotion?

However, when children in China are with their peers in other countries, how can they have so many regrets? Just after the evacuation from Rabbit Island, another incident happened that embarrassed China children and teachers: Japanese children habitually took out garbage bags, put them, including rice dregs or discarded peels of China children, into bags and took them back with adhesive tape.

Looking at this scene, the faces of teachers and children in China are slightly warm: We are from China! It's the master! How can we let Japanese children clean us like hosts like uncivilized guests? Where is the love for the motherland that we have been shouting?

Yes, how did this countless embarrassment happen?

Let's make a comparison.

Choose 40 Qingdao children from the whole city. 10 Beijing children are selected from 57O students in the whole school. I happen to have a copy of "A Brief Introduction to Students Participating in the Summer Camp for Chinese and Japanese Youth Adventures" at hand. Judging from the recommended materials, they are all good students with excellent academic performance. Some of them have been rated as "three good students" for many years, some have won prizes in the national Huajin Cup mathematics competition or the Olympic competition, and some have served as squadron leaders or squadron leaders. In terms of non-intelligence factors, most of them are "thirst for knowledge", "courage to explore" and "courage to suffer".

Unlike children in China, 142 all Japanese children sign up voluntarily, and any child can participate as long as they sign up and pay a fee.

That is to say, at present, in the competition field of summer camp, it is actually an unfair competition: China is an excellent player and Japanese is an ordinary player. However, who wins and who loses?

Children in Beijing are very self-aware and frankly admit that they lost. They scrambled to say to me:

"Japanese children have better hands-on ability than us!"

"They can bear hardships more than we can."

"They are more enthusiastic than us and are willing to make friends!"

"Japanese children dare to break in!"

"They are free, not afraid to get their clothes dirty, and even dare to put ink on the teacher's face. We are too careful! "

"When the watermelons were divided, they scrambled to eat, stuttered and ate loudly. We remember the discipline of foreign affairs and don't make any noise when eating. As a result, I ate too few watermelons! "

"Japanese children talk less and do more, while China children talk more and do less."

"……"

Hearing this, I want to cry. It should be fair to say that the primary education and teaching of the National Meteorological Administration is ahead, and these students are also very cute-excellent among the primary school students in the country. The question is: Why do good students in our good schools show so many weaknesses?

Before the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, China's naval equipment level was not worse than that of Japan. However, when German experts visited China warships, they found that soldiers of the Qing Dynasty hung clothes on the gun bore and stained the gun bore with soot, and immediately concluded that the China navy would be defeated by the Japanese. Later, this prediction became a huge tragic reality.

Contemporary politicians and educators all assert that the future competition is talent competition, and the key to talent competition is quality competition. In this sense, the weakness of children's quality in China has exposed the weakness of China and the weakness of education in China. Can this be considered a small problem?

I tried to let the students analyze the reasons themselves, and Dong Zhiyu blurted out without thinking:

"Inheritance!"

"Inheritance?" I'm Zheng. Unexpectedly, he couldn't restrain his excitement and poured it out eloquently.

He said:

"Always look before you leap, look before you leap, weigh again and again, until foolproof. Isn't that what China people have done since ancient times? Grandma has forbidden me to use fire until now. Natural gas furnace is also electronic lighting. What's the danger? Do not move! I usually live at my grandmother's house. what can I do? Grandma wouldn't let me do it, and said that I couldn't just study, but I had to do housework. What housework does she want me to do? Sweep the floor, take out the garbage, wash dishes, brush shoes, and so on. All electricity, fire, water and knives are not allowed to touch. In fact, it's not that children in China won't, but that parents won't let them! Only child, what should I do if something happens? You may not believe it? My grandmother is also a retired primary school teacher. She is very clear in reason, but she just can't do it in practice. You say, how can we not get high marks and have low ability?

"Although the Japanese are so proud, I am not inferior with them. It is a fact that they are in good condition, and others did it. Let's fight when we grow up! I can't believe it. We in China always lag behind. I hope parents and teachers can put it down and rest assured. Let's fight for it, even if our heads are broken, we are willing! "

Listening to the words of Dong Zhiyu and the floor, I can't help but look at this hot-blooded boy carefully. Although he is only 13 years old, his height is already 1.7 meters, his eyebrows are dark and his upper lip is slightly blue. It seems that his hairy beard is sprouting.

I suddenly had an association: a young eagle with wings tied is anxiously looking up at the blue sky. It has not found a way to untie or break the rope, although it is not difficult to find such a way. However, as long as you are willing to find it, there is hope!
