The National Postgraduate Mathematical Modeling Competition is sponsored by the Center for Degree and Postgraduate Education Development of the Ministry of Education (hereinafter referred to as the Degree Center), which is one of the theme activities of "National Postgraduate Innovation Practice Series" sponsored by the Degree Center. The National Mathematical Modeling Competition for Postgraduates is a science and technology competition for postgraduates all over the country. Its purpose is to stimulate graduate students' innovative vitality and interest in learning, improve their comprehensive ability to use computers to build mathematical models and solve practical problems, broaden their knowledge, cultivate their innovative spirit and sense of teamwork, promote the emergence and rapid growth of outstanding talents among graduate students, promote graduate education reform, and enhance exchanges and cooperation among universities, research institutes and enterprises. Since the contest was held in 2004, it has received strong support from national graduate training institutions and enthusiastic response from graduate students across the country. The scale of participating units and teams is getting larger and larger, and there are many doctoral students among the contestants, which makes the competition more and more influential among graduate students in the country and lays a solid foundation among the majority of graduate students. In 2006, this activity was listed as one of the innovative projects of postgraduate education of the Ministry of Education.
