Its predecessor was Hunan Provincial Library and Education Museum, which was founded in Guding Wangtai in March of 1904 with donations from Liang Huankui and others. The library has service windows such as comprehensive lending room, literature and art book lending room, Chinese newspaper lending room, foreign language lending room, Chinese reference book lending room, local literature reading room, ancient books reading room and electronic reading room.
