Abel, a gifted mathematician in Norway.

1978 One evening in summer, I took a walk in the Royal Park in Oslo, Norway. From the "Abel Mountain" in the park, you can see a corner of the busy market not far below. It's not dark yet, but colorful neon lights are on.

It's just raining. Half the sky is dark, but the other side is clear. A rainbow appeared on one side of the dark clouds. The colors of red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue and purple were very beautiful against the dark gray sky.

I went to the masterpiece of Gustav Vig-Lan (1869- 1943) in the Garden-Abel Memorial Hall. Look at the giant left by this artist.

Abel was the greatest mathematician who appeared in Norway in the19th century. He struggled in a poor environment all his life. On the day he was born, he hoped to have a regular job so that he could settle down and do research. He hoped to marry a girl he loved. But fate seems to be against him, and all his expectations have come to nothing. Finally, lung disease took his life, and he died at the age of 26!
