SSAT not only examines the academic level, ability and quality of candidates, but also tests their academic attitude. Candidates who take the SSAT exam, for whatever reason, must bear the loss of scores caused by wrong answers in the exam. Take the math part of SSAT as an example. Candidates should answer 55 math questions within the specified time. Answer 55 math questions correctly, and candidates can get full marks in math; If the examinee answers a wrong question every time, the score corresponding to a quarter of the question will be subtracted.
When taking the SSAT exam, candidates will inevitably encounter questions that they can't answer, and they are unwilling to answer them when they are empty. What if they get the wrong answer and are afraid of losing points? Candidates are advised to use the technique of "known debugging" to deal with such problems. The SSAT exam is mainly composed of multiple-choice questions, and each question lists five options. If the examinee can use the existing knowledge to eliminate three wrong answers, then only in this case can he guess the right question.
The following small series combines the examination experience of a candidate to analyze the phenomenon of inverted scores in detail.
Mathematics is the first course in American SSAT exam. It's scary to read the topic, but it's not difficult. Mathematics in America is easy, but the questions are all expressed in English. Although I have been trained to understand the questions, my speed is not fast enough, so I still have three or four questions to do.
Next is reading and vocabulary. I feel basically incomprehensible, and I don't know many words. Most of the topics in China are very detailed. Even if you don't understand the full text, you can sometimes find the beginning and end of the paragraph. But American reading comprehension requires you to take a title, tell the central meaning of the article and so on. And you'll never guess.
To make matters worse, I can't take my chances to fill in the answer. According to SSAT's regulations, points will be deducted for answering wrong questions! For example, SSAT pays 2400, even if you don't do the problem, you have to 1500. These basic points are reserved for your deduction. So I dare not guess the answer, basically two-thirds of the questions can only be empty.
Finally, the composition problem. This part is not included in the total score, but it is an important reference for school admission. Everyone's composition topic is different. I got the question "What do you think is more important, or what you don't know?" After leaving the examination room, I chatted with other candidates and found that most people's questions are speculative and there is no standard answer, as long as you can justify yourself.
There is another strange thing. There is only half a piece of A4 paper for writing, and no paper is added. Moreover, the teacher explained before the exam that it is useless to write more than the answer sheet, which means that every sentence should be written to the point. Be sure to pay attention to the above points to avoid losing points in the ssat exam.
Candidates should pay attention to the above points. It is hoped that candidates will also develop the habit of being cautious and rigorous when preparing for the exam. I'd rather be idle than guess a topic I'm not sure about. Finally, how to develop a good habit of doing problems requires candidates to pay more attention to details when doing problems.
