Indeed, I didn't intend to let Sister Yi study at all this winter vacation.
There are many reasons, but the most important one is that, in my opinion, it is neither necessary nor timely.
0 1 Teaching literacy also depends on the return on investment!
For mothers of preschool children, the first question may be-at what age is the best to teach literacy?
I can't actually give the most appropriate answer to this question.
But all enlightenment is good, and doing it early is better than doing it late. There is no doubt about it. But what we are going to discuss today is "the best". In other words, what we are going to discuss is when to teach children to read, with twice the result with half the effort, with good results and high return on investment. The most important thing is not to delay things (entering primary school).
Some people start teaching their children to read at the age of 2, just like me. When Li was over two years old, I bought a literacy card and began to teach him to read.
However, a 2-year-old child cannot speak fluently. How many words do you want him to learn? Nothing more than the simplest person in the sky, the king of working soil. If it's a little complicated, he won't remember. For example, "Lift", Emma, makes it a struggle. ...
As long as you don't look at it for a while, he dares to forget it for a minute. That kind of frustration will dilute all your sense of accomplishment.
I can't blame the children if I want to come. The learning of any language depends on repeated use. As long as you don't use it, you will forget it. Not only children, but also adults. Think about those long English words memorized at school. Now there are still a few that can be written, and you will understand what I mean.
There are too few application scenarios for two or three-year-old children to read books and newspapers, and it is not impossible to teach them. If you teach, you should always take the review with you, or you will have to go back to the furnace to teach.
The younger a child is, the less intelligence, understanding and knowledge he has about the world, so the fewer Chinese characters he can really acquire and understand. If you teach him the Sun once, he can remember it, but if you teach him the Revolution, he is absolutely stunned.
Because his world is a little bit, words beyond cognition are impossible for children. You need a lot of explanations or pictures and videos, which may not be able to make children understand.
So it's not that you can't start reading earlier, but that it's difficult to keep reviewing. You have spent a lot of energy teaching him, and the child accepts slowly, and the return on investment is naturally low.
We must admit that children's learning ability and understanding increase with age, which is directly related to the maturity of the brain and body.
Therefore, the IQ gap brought by age is the most obvious in childhood. It must be that the older the child is, the stronger his ability to accept it. If you teach the same child the same word 100, it is more difficult to teach him at the age of 3 than at the age of 4, easier to teach him at the age of 5 than at the age of 4, and so on.
Therefore, the older a child is, the more suitable it is to teach him to read, because he can be taught more words in a short time, and the maturity of intelligence can make this mechanical work get twice the result with half the effort.
On the other hand, the bigger the better.
Like when we were young, few people went to preschool, let alone the young connection of the system. Most people don't start reading until they go to primary school. In my opinion, it is very scientific, because children aged six to seven have a very mature ability in reading, writing, understanding and drawing inferences from others.
If I can choose, I think after 6 years old, it will be the best age for literacy, and my intelligence, experience and association have all reached a mature stage.
However, I don't need to talk about today's educational content. As we all know, if there is no young connection, most children will not be able to keep up after graduating from primary school, because the teacher has long recognized that your children have learned to read, count and spell in English. The class is so fast that it is impossible to learn from scratch.
I have to say here, don't listen to some education experts say that it is no problem to enter primary school without teaching literacy. If you believe it, you will be naive. As a front-line parent struggling in the first grade of primary school, I must say that children can read their writing homework every day, which is killing you! The amount of homework now, you can't even see the questions without reading, not to mention the problem that teachers keep reading every day.
Therefore, from the perspective of return on investment and children's physical and mental development, it is natural to learn to read once and for all in primary school. However, the current education situation does not allow us to let our children "streaking" directly to primary school, so considering comprehensively, I think the stage of 5-6 years old is the period with the highest return on investment.
Some people may say, don't be so absolute, right Can't a child start reading at the age of 4?
Sure! As long as you have energy, patience and time, you can start teaching at the age of 2, but progress is fast and slow, but as long as you persist, you will definitely make progress in the end.
However, I am a second-born mother, the eldest is in the first grade and the second is in the middle class. I have to grasp their learning tasks, so my energy is very limited. On the one hand, I don't have much time to take my time. I can only choose the most suitable age and arrange them to acquire all kinds of necessary subjects in the most radical way.
It's not that the cultivation of a long stream of water is not good, but that my actual situation does not allow me to devote all my energy to one child, so I can only take the most utilitarian high return on investment, thus ensuring that the level of both children is online.
Literacy, for Yi Jie, who is not yet five years old, is a project that can be put aside.
Literacy is essentially different from English and mathematics enlightenment.
Let me first talk about why I chose math and English, and put literacy at the end.
From the small class, I have introduced a set of mathematics enlightenment textbooks, such as Moby loves mathematics, seven abilities, logic dog, American classic collection, various mathematics enlightenment stickers, etc., including the newly added Singapore mathematics this winter vacation. I dare say that my sister and I have brushed the math enlightenment questions at the level of small class and middle class.
As for English, I have introduced the step-by-step enlightenment APP since my small class. My sister will follow with simple words. In the middle class, I began to teach two children the picture book course of Oxford Tree. By this winter vacation, I began to teach them high-frequency words and natural spelling.
Although Yi Jie is a soy sauce manufacturer and Rong Da is the main training target, I asked Yi Jie to study with my brother in order to lay a good foundation for her. After all, she still has two years to go to primary school, and English can be taken slowly step by step, but her younger brother must use utilitarian and practical methods.
From these courses and books, it is not difficult to find a * * * feature, that is, whether it is mathematics enlightenment or Oxford Tree's English picture books, including high-frequency words, he is graded.
Gradability means that it has a systematic learning system from easy to difficult. Enlightenment textbooks, such as Moby, the Seventh National Congress and Singapore Mathematics, are all age-divided. At what age, what to learn will be clearly arranged for you.
Both Oxford tree and high-frequency words have the level of 123456. You can directly choose the learning content corresponding to your age at different ages. If the child can't keep up, the difficulty can be adjusted appropriately. As long as you have time and energy, you can start enlightenment early, and the intellectual threshold for children is not so high.
In addition, whether it is the establishment of mathematical thinking logic or the improvement of English reading, writing and reading comprehension, it is a gradual process, which cannot be accelerated. Starting to lay the foundation early, small classes and middle classes have established good habits and thinking patterns. When you get to the big class, it will be smooth and easy. Just brush the questions regularly.
At this point, I can free up my energy and concentrate on solving the literacy problem.
On the other hand, reading and writing ability is hardly graded. Of course, Chinese characters are always difficult to distinguish, but in fact, relative to the difficulty of strokes, the frequency of use is the main factor to decide which words to learn first and which words to learn later.
If you don't believe me, in the four or five blocks of reading, except for the first few pages, the teaching is relatively simple, and almost all of them are difficult to teach.
Because there is no strict grading of literacy, it seems to me that it is very laborious to teach many difficult words to young children. For this reason, it is not cost-effective to teach children to read in middle classes or even small classes. Why don't you use your experience to specialize in math and English?
Literacy can be relatively fast.
I have a say in the fact that literacy can accelerate. Because Li Si and Harle have finished eight volumes, he can read seven, seven, eight and eight general children's picture books, and it is almost effortless to read the questions and articles after primary school.
As I said above, I began to teach Rong Da to read when he was more than two years old, but later he gave birth to Yi Jie and raised Yi Jie. In fact, the literacy process in Rong Da was intermittent and did not last.
To tell the truth, when he entered the big class, most of the figures I taught him were actually returned to me, and only a few people like "Heaven and Earth" could remember them.
In other words, when I started to make a young connection for Li, his cultural level was basically the same as that of people who didn't study.
What I want to explain here is that in the first semester of Li Daban, pinyin was the main form in kindergarten, and Chinese characters were also taught but not systematically. I can't teach a few in a week. The winter vacation caught up with the epidemic, and the big class basically studied at home next semester.
Just in time for the epidemic, I couldn't go anywhere anyway, so I began to pay attention to his young bridging course. At that time, you can recommend relevant articles at the end of the article and review the past.
It was at this time that the fourth and fifth fast reading articles appeared.
When I took 5-year-old Li to read the first volume at speed of 45, I was in the mood to teach it again from the beginning, so I consolidated what I knew. If I can't remember it, I will pretend that I haven't taught it from the beginning.
I don't need to say this for four or five years. The number of young connections was introduced in detail before.
After learning the first volume, you can read 88 words, the second volume can read 60-70 words of long paragraphs, and the third volume can read 200 words of short articles. After learning all four or five volumes, you can read a 600-word story. Stick to seven volumes, you can know 960 words and 4200 words, and you can read books and newspapers.
As a literacy textbook, it is very good. It is difficult to insert new words in every lesson. After class, words and sentences go from simple to difficult, and then gradually develop into paragraphs. Finally, the article is completely read in the eighth volume.
I think this design of cultivating children's reading ability step by step while recognizing words is very scientific. After all, the ultimate goal of teaching children to read is to serve reading.
In my opinion, I have finished reading all eight volumes, and I will not encounter any difficulties when I read casually in the first grade.
During the whole epidemic period, I took Li to recognize a lesson every day, reviewed a lesson I had learned before the next day, and then moved on to the next class. Every time I finish reading a book, I will cut out the word cards after class and let him recognize them again and again. If I can't remember clearly, I will put them aside and ask them the next day.
In more than four months during the epidemic holiday, I took Li to review all the fourth and fifth speed reading of eight books. He instantly changed from an illiterate who knew nothing to a "cultural man" who could understand any signs. So I said, literacy can be accelerated.
Of course, a five-month suspension from school is probably unprecedented, and it is unlikely in the future. Therefore, in a sense, four months of literacy can't be copied, but we can lengthen this time front, starting with children entering large classes. Learn only one book a month, and you can finish the first six books in half a year (the seventh is the family of characters, so that children can draw inferences, and the eighth is the article reading). After you have learned all the basic high-frequency Chinese characters, you can let your children try to read them.
If there is any shortcoming in the speed reading of grade four or five, it is that the learning process is rather boring. So I put literacy after the big class.
Children in small and middle classes are not focused enough. Speed reading is a classic literacy textbook, which is not as interesting as stickers, hands-on games and videos such as "Love Mathematics" and "Seven Abilities" by Moby.
Fast reading is a simple and rude memory and practice on the basis of forgetting the curve, so too young children simply can't listen and have no patience to remember one by one. You know, each lesson varies from 7- 12 words. Sister Yi often can't remember five words at a time.
Maybe some mothers will say, why don't you find an interesting way to read?
In the process of becoming attached to Li Juvenile, what I feel most is that the basic knowledge is not fun, and there is no second way to learn except repeated application and practice until I am proficient. Because learning itself is not a particularly interesting thing.
Only those who can endure boredom and walk steadily can learn their real things.
It must be said that interesting literacy paths will make children addicted to fun, and ignoring literacy is the original intention. There are many apps on the market that can read words. I have also used them and used them for my sister.
During the epidemic last year, when I was doing speed reading for Li, I asked Sister Yi to use Dr. Panda's literacy APP. Mainly to find something to do for Sister Yi. First, I can speak Chinese characters to my brother without getting into trouble. Secondly, I can create a learning atmosphere, that is literacy time. Third, Li can have a psychological balance and study by himself. My sister is not idle watching TV.
But to be honest, I don't believe that APP can teach children to read. Those fancy game links are enough to attract children's attention. A sister really likes being a panda doctor, but after learning it, I found that I asked her with a word card, and she didn't know many words at all.
I can do it well, but I don't know the lyrics. Unexpected?
Think about it, teaching five Chinese characters in each class is only a ten-minute course, and there are many games in the middle. Children may not remember it for a while, let alone ask it in a day or two.
So later, I added another item to my sister's literacy time-reading word cards with her to consolidate the new words I had learned before. One of the reasons why I chose Dr. Panda APP is that it has a matching word card. I will ask her which lesson words she reviewed.
Teaching children to read and remember again and again is a constantly changing method from the ancestors. You can choose to tell your child yourself, or you can seek the help of the APP, but one thing, you must take your child to review by hand, review every day, and know how much the child remembers in time. If you don't remember it, you need to remember it again and again.
Otherwise, no fairy APP can teach children to read.
Because app literacy was not my original intention, I sent my brother to learn to read when my sister was fine. So after the epidemic, I didn't insist that my sister learn Dr. Panda, but occasionally she was interested and would open it for fun.
This small year has passed, and I don't know how many words she can remember, but after Rong Da's literacy experience, I really don't worry. In the big class, I will practice reading four or five fast.
This time, I won't wait until the second half of the big class to start reading quickly. At the beginning of the big class, I will make arrangements for my sister. We will learn slowly and slowly, and I will be more calm after crossing the young connection of the boss.
For children in kindergarten classes, there are many things that need to be connected, such as math, English, pinyin, literacy and writing. Everything is indispensable. I feel sorry for the children now, but at the same time, I am constantly involved in the whirlpool of education entanglement.
But it is precisely because of its numerous projects, each of which is a hard nut to crack, so we should be more sober and step by step, because "baby" should be tailored and broken one by one.
I put my sister's literacy process after the big class, not because literacy is not important, but because the earlier I study, the earlier I form my own reading habits, which is actually a good thing. However, as a second-born mother like me, and many working mothers who are too busy to work step by step and have a steady stream of water, it is the best choice to shrink the front line and play a blitzkrieg without delaying their studies and setting goals quickly.
So, I'm not in a hurry to teach my sister to read, and I can start after the big class.
