This book reflects Engels' view of nature and natural science, embodies the unity of his Marxist philosophy and Engels' world outlook, epistemology and methodology, and constitutes an integral part of Marxist philosophy. Research field initiated by Engels' dialectics of nature. Dialectics of nature itself is increasingly revealed through the development of natural science and technology, and the research of these two aspects is closely related and inseparable.
Dialectics of Nature was never published before Engels died. After his death, in 1898, he published a paper "The Role of Labor in the Transformation from Ape to Man" and another paper "Natural Science in the World of God". It was not until 1925 that the full text was published in the German and Russian translation of Marx and Engels Library published by the former Soviet Union.

Writing background
Engels wanted to write a masterpiece, so he carefully studied a large number of documents and wrote more than a dozen papers, 170 notes. He started writing from 1873. Before 1878, he wanted to write anti-Turin, so he just collected materials for this book. After 1878, he began to write formally, wrote most papers and fragments, and drew up the draft plan of the whole book and wrote an introduction.
1883 after Marx's death, Engels devoted himself to the publication and proofreading of Marx's Das Kapital, and at the same time assumed the responsibility of leading the international workers' movement, so he had no time to continue writing. Although he later wrote 1886, he could not continue to write until 1895 died.
At present, except for a few notes obviously unrelated to Dialectics of Nature, all of them are based on four bundles of materials left by Engels. * * Including ten papers, 169 paragraph notes and two draft plans, * * There are 18 1 parts.
Including dialectics, mathematics, mechanics and astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, social science, etc., the classification of material movement forms, and the views on the relationship between science history, natural science and philosophy. This paper comprehensively expounds the Marxist view of natural science research with dialectical materialism, summarizes the past natural science discoveries and predicts the future scientific development.
