(2) Zhu Ziqing:

Zhu Ziqing, a famous essayist and scholar (1898— 1948, originally from Shaoxing, Zhejiang, born in Donghai, Jiangsu). 19 16 applied for the preparatory course of Beijing Peking university, and got only 0 points in mathematics, but the composition was beautifully written, with beautiful words and delicate emotions, and got full marks, so I was successfully admitted.

According to his own memory, because of cramming, his grades in mathematics, western history, zoology, physics and other subjects were not ideal. However, because the first Chinese exam was "No rules, no Fiona Fang", he thought the topic was not funny, and because he liked reading miscellaneous books on weekdays, he randomly researched an essay. This is a fantastic textual research. I didn't expect the teacher who was reading the paper at that time to be addicted to textual research. He appreciated the article very much and was awarded full marks, so he was admitted as an exception.

(4) Qian Zhongshu:

Qian Zhongshu, a famous scholar and writer (1910-1998, from Wuxi, Jiangsu). Graduated from Wuxi Fu Jen Middle School with the first place in 1929, and then applied for Tsinghua University. He did well in Chinese and English exams. It is said that English is perfect and Chinese is close to perfection, but math is only 15. Supposedly, this kind of situation can't be admitted, but the examiner reported to Luo Jialun, the then president of Tsinghua, that President Luo accepted him for love. It is said that another reason is that Qian Zhongshu's father, Qian Jibo, was Professor Guo Wen of Tsinghua University at that time.

(5) Ji Xianlin:

Ji Xianlin, a famous linguist, essayist and translator (1911-2009, from Linqing, Shandong). According to Qian Wenzhong, a favorite pupil of Ji Xianlin and a professor at Fudan University, Ji Lao is a serious student in liberal arts. When he applied for Tsinghua on 1930, he got only 4 points in mathematics, and it was really unimaginable that his first choice was the department of mathematics. (Qian Wenzhong once asked Ji Lao himself, how much did he get in the college entrance examination for mathematics? Ji Lao only said "very low" and said nothing else. ) However, due to his excellent performance in other subjects, he was finally admitted to the Department of Western Literature in Tsinghua.
