In order to make our periodical rich in content, informative and fast in publishing, it is necessary to simplify the papers, and how to simplify the text is an urgent problem to be solved at present. In our long-term participation in the revision and editing of sci-tech periodicals, we have some superficial experiences for your reference.

Thesis is different from textbooks, monographs and various reference books. It is the carrier of experience exchange and common interests. Therefore, medical papers should be published as soon as possible and concise, so that readers can see at a glance and get the most information in the least time. A paper needs about 3500 words. The magazine has only 64 pages per issue, with a little more than 2000 words per page. In addition to four pages in Chinese and English, each magazine can publish 120000 words. If each paper is calculated by 3500 words, then 33 papers will be published in each issue of the magazine. At present, there are many papers submitted, and the backlog is serious. If the number of papers exceeds 6000 words, there will be fewer papers published in each issue, and the backlog can be imagined.

Is it possible to simplify papers, instead of getting longer and longer like some authors' papers, as if they had written papers? Every word is the truth? There is no simplification. We think it's a matter of style. I remember a drum song: cover the drum skin tightly and nail it firmly. It rains on a sunny day, so it all sounds the same. ? Later, it was changed? Covered tightly, nailed densely, sunny and rainy, the same sound. ? Finally deleted as? Nails are tight, sunny and rainy. ? From 20 words to 8 words, without losing the original intention. Taking this as a mirror, some of our papers can be shortened completely.

The structure of medical journal papers can generally be divided into title, preface, data and methods, results and discussion. Some suggestions are put forward to simplify these parts.

First, the title should be eye-catching, easy to remember, mention the full text, reflect the characteristics of the article, so that readers can understand what the article is about by reading the title. The topic is too big, too small or too abstract, generally no more than 20 words. Try not to use punctuation marks and English abbreviations in the title.

Second, the introduction is a paper? Hat? It is required to come straight to the point, focusing on the background of the study, the arguments of predecessors, the purpose of the study or the problems expected to be solved. If you can make it clear in three or five sentences, don't repeat it.

Thirdly, data and methods are the key contents of the paper, which must be explained clearly to readers. To convince readers that the results of the article are scientifically based, it is necessary to make clear the object of experiment or observation (patients or experimental animals) and explain the conditions of the object of experiment or observation (gender, age, quantity, animal species and source). This paper introduces the equipment (manufacturer and model) and experimental methods and steps. This paper briefly introduces the published unfamiliar methods and gives references. For newly discovered or improved methods, the characteristics, reasons for adoption and basis for improvement should be introduced. The description of data and methods is for readers to repeat. It is not enough to be too brief, let alone too detailed. Some authors make a big fuss about this part, fearing that readers will not understand it, and there are too many details to be necessary.

Fourthly, the achievement part of the paper is to list the sorted research and experimental data in a certain order and express them in the form of words and charts. Where the text can explain the problem, you don't have to make a chart. If the chart has made it clear, you should compress the text. The description of the results should be accurate, and the original data should not be simply listed. Materials and data should be summarized and analyzed, and the results of scientific treatment should be listed. To avoid playing and discussing this paragraph, the range, size and height of the number itself can explain the problem.

Fifth, the discussion part is to evaluate, clarify and infer the research results of this paper. This paper mainly expounds the principle and mechanism of this research work, explains the characteristics of this data and method, and analyzes the similarities and differences between this achievement and other achievements, as well as their respective advantages and disadvantages. Summarize the research results of this paper theoretically, put forward new viewpoints, compare and evaluate different viewpoints, and put forward the direction of future exploration. First of all, be careful not to blindly quote too many documents? Overview? Instead of discussing, we should avoid repeating the contents and results of the preface and avoid being empty and lengthy. In a word, the introduction of the paper should be straight to the point, concise, clear paragraphs, fluent sentences, clear meaning, appropriate words and accurate punctuation. The illustrations or tables in the text should be concise and clear, and the text description should not be repeated.
