Kindergarten director certificate belongs to vocational skill certificate, which is divided into three categories: primary, intermediate and advanced. Kindergarten professional director card is the only valid certificate for the director to take up his post. The state strictly controls the quality and requires all directors to hold certificates. Kindergarten directors should have the basic knowledge of scientific management of kindergartens and have certain ability of organization and coordination.

The National Kindergarten Directors' Qualifications, Responsibilities and Post Requirements (Trial) promulgated and implemented by the State Education Commission is based on the quality requirements of kindergarten directors put forward by China's early childhood education and combined with the current situation of kindergarten directors. It is the basic basis for the selection, appointment, assessment and training of kindergarten directors.
