Author: Mark Twain, (Mark Twain L835 ~ 19 10)

American writer. His real name is Samuel Langhorne Clemens. Mark Twain is his pen name. Born into a poor rural lawyer family in Hannibal, a small town on the Mississippi River, he went abroad as an apprentice. I worked as a compositor, a Mississippi sailor, a Confederate soldier, and also worked in the timber, mining and publishing industries, but my effective work was as a reporter and writing humorous literature. Mark Twain is the founder of American critical realism literature and a world-famous master of short stories. He experienced the development process from "free" capitalism to imperialism in the United States, and his thoughts and creations also showed a stage of development from light ridicule to bitter satire to pessimism. His early works, such as the short stories "Accidentally Elected Governor" (1870) and "Goldsmith's Friends Go Abroad Again" (1870), mocked the absurdity of "democratic election" and the essence of "democratic paradise" in the United States with humorous brushwork. Mid-term works, such as the novel Gilded Age (1874,

Co-written with Warner), representative novels The Adventures of Harburg Finn (1886), Fool Wilson (1893), etc. It satirizes and exposes the speculative and money-worship fanaticism prevailing in the United States like the plague, as well as the dark social reality and inhuman racial discrimination. The Adventures of Hakberg Finn tells the story of Huck, a white boy, and Jim, a fugitive black slave, wandering on the Mississippi River. It not only criticized the cruelty of feudalism, exposed the irrationality of lynching, but also satirized the hypocrisy and ignorance of religion, condemned the evil of slavery, praised the excellent qualities of black slaves, and advocated the progressive proposition that everyone should enjoy freedom regardless of racial status. His works are regarded as epoch-making realistic works in the history of American literature with fresh and powerful writing style and natural and unique perspective. At the end of 19, the United States entered the stage of imperialist development. Some of Mark Twain's travel notes, essays and political essays, such as Journey to the Equator (1897), novella The Man Who Corrupted Hadleyburg (1900) and Mysterious Visitor (65438). Mark Twain is known as "Lincoln in American literature". Most of his major works have been translated into Chinese.

Later, he became a licensed Mississippi River boat pilot. After the civil war ended steamboat transportation, Clemens moved to Virginia City, where he edited Territorial Career. 1863 On February 3rd, when Clemens signed a humorous travel account under that pseudonym, "Mark Twain" was born.

He began to travel around the world, traveling in France and Italy. His experience was recorded in 1869 Innocent Abroad, which made him popular and mocked the prejudice and customs in America and Europe.

The success as a writer gave Twain enough financial security to marry Olivia Langdon in 1870. They moved to Hartford the following year. Twain continued to give lectures in America and England. In the 1690s, Twain lost most of his income in financial speculation and the failure of his own publishing company. In order to recover from bankruptcy, he began a world lecture tour, during which one of his daughters died. Twain traveled to New Zealand, Australia, India and South Africa. He has written some books, such as The Tragedy of Pudding Wilson (1884), Personal Memories of Joan of Arc (1885), Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1889) and Traveling along the Equator (/kloc).
