Jiangyin Library was founded in 1936 and built independently in 1987. The new library was completed and opened in 2005, covering an area of about 5 100 square meters, with a building area of more than 4,300 square meters, a collection of books of 1000,000 copies, and a reader's seat of 1200, which can receive 4,000 readers every day.

At present, the library has more than 550,000 books, including CD-ROM 1.5 million boxes, 30,000 e-books, 0.2 million periodicals and 0.3 newspapers. It provides 8 databases, including China periodical full-text database, China important newspapers full-text database, China basic ancient books database and national research network database, with actual storage capacity of 1.65438. The whole library adopts automatic management, and the construction of digital library is in a leading position among county-level libraries in China. Jiangyin Library is also a sub-center of the cultural information resource sharing project.

The service window is divided into two areas according to the object: one is the children's service area, which is equipped with a children's toy library, a children's audio-visual room for watching film and television materials, a science and technology production room for developing children's intelligence, and a children's lending room for borrowing books. Second, the adult service area, with a comprehensive lending room and newspaper reading room for public use; Reference reading rooms, ancient books reading rooms and local literature reading rooms for research readers; Provide online reading electronic reading room, modern multimedia reading room and audio-visual reference room; It provides a study room for readers with autonomous learning ability. It is open every day throughout the year, and all books and periodicals in each window are open-shelf, providing readers with simple and fast services. Relying on rich resources, the library also carries out a large number of frontier activities every year, holds large-scale lectures and exhibitions, and extensively carries out extended services and mobile services, so as to make services go deep into the grassroots. Jiangyin Library, as the most basic cultural facility in the city, will build a knowledge-based service system based on traditional literature services, with modern information services as the leading factor and cultural and educational services as the new growth point.
