The Guangdong Digital Library (Phase I Project) built by the library has built the largest digital resource library in China since it was put into operation in 2002, including 400,000 kinds of electronic books, 6,543,802,000 Chinese electronic journal papers, 6,543,800 doctoral and master's thesis papers, 5 million foreign electronic journals and more than 80 factual and documentary databases. In 2002, the download volume of books in digital libraries was 654.38+09 billion pages, equivalent to more than 6.3 million copies in circulation. Relying on the massive digital resources and good network environment, Zhongshan Library of Guangdong Province actively carries out online reference service, and has answered nearly 200,000 cases of readers' consultation from all over the world in the past year, and delivered more than 1 10,000 documents remotely, making it the first practical provincial digital library in China.

Zhongshan Library in Guangdong Province has realized automatic management in book selection, cataloging and reader service. By 2006, 39 mobile libraries had been built in Guangdong. A book logistics and information virtual logistics service network led and radiated by Zhongshan Library in Guangdong Province has been formed, which has created a new mechanism of literature information service in Guangdong Province and improved the cultural service capacity of the whole province. In 2006, Guangdong Mobile Library, as one of the three major networks for building a public cultural service system in Guangdong Province, won the second innovation award from the Ministry of Culture.
