Pingtan (formerly Fuqing County, Fuzhou Prefecture) is called "Lan" for short, commonly known as Haitan, and is a prefecture-level administrative region directly under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province. Pingtan County and Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone implement the management system of "administrative and district integration" (administrative and experimental zones).
Located in the east of Fujian Province, across the Taiwan Province Strait from Taiwan Province Province, it is the closest place to Taiwan Province Island in Chinese mainland, and consists of 126 islands, mainly Haitan Island, which is also a famous fishing base.
Pingtan county is located at 2515'-25 45' north latitude and19 32'-12010' east longitude. It borders Taiwan Province Strait in the east, Haitan Strait in the west, Fuqing City, Changle City and Putian City, Rinan Island in Xiuyu District of Putian City in the south and Baiquan Islands in the north.
Pingtan county consists of 126 islands, with a land area of 37 1.9 1 km2, a tidal flat of 64.65 km2, a sea area of more than 6,000 km2 and a coastline of 399.82 km.
On July 20 13, Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone obtained and exercised the economic and social management authority of districts and cities, and it is a prefecture-level administrative region directly under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province. Pingtan has a long history, but it was developed late, and there are still a lot of primitive buildings on the island. After the national development, famous enterprises gathered on the island, and Hong Chen Group, a Taiwan compatriot, and other enterprises successively settled in Pingtan.
