The museum was founded in 1949, formerly known as Pingyuan Provincial Museum, and later changed to Xinxiang Library Cultural Relics Museum, and was formally established as Xinxiang Museum in 1958. Xinxiang Museum has a rich and diverse collection, and currently has more than 30,000 cultural relics, including ceramics, calligraphy and painting, copper and iron, jade, inscriptions and other categories. Among them, the most famous are Shang and Zhou bronzes, Ming and Qing paintings and rubbings of ancient inscriptions. There are 55 first-class products, 857 second-class products and nearly 30 thousand third-class products in the collection, which are rich in quantity and high in value and enjoy a high reputation in Henan Province.
