The library accepted a batch of books and periodicals donated by Mr. Shi Youheng * * 13342, all of which were paperback (fine) books, magazines, thread-bound books and foreign literature published before the founding of the People's Republic of China, and set up special rooms for display. After Mr. Ye Shengtao sealed his pen, he made an exception and inscribed a plaque for the room: Mr. Shi Youheng donated the library. Mr. Shi Youheng (1905- 1982), a modern writer and bibliophile in China, was born in Xuzhou. He took part in the May 30th Movement in his early years, followed by the Northern Expedition with the army, and engaged in cultural and educational work for a long time after 1927. Mr. Shi has contacts with Mr. Lu Xun, and Lu Xun's essay "Answering Mr. You Heng" was written because of Mr. Shi. Mr. Shi has donated books and periodicals to Luxun Memorial Hall and Museum in Shaoxing, Shanghai and Beijing. The books presented to our library include the publications of the early publishing institutions of China * * * Production Party, the early translated classic works of Marxism-Leninism and related works, magazines published during the Anti-Japanese War and Xuzhou local documents with high data value. Many of them are rare books today, which have the value of literature or edition, and some periodicals can make up for the shortage of domestic libraries. The first edition of Song Xuezhai's collected works, Zhang Xiufu's diary manuscript and Mr. Qingyi's manuscript in the thread-bound book are also very precious. However, the well-known stories such as The Story of a Scared Woman and The Strange Tales of Two Tanks have never been mentioned by researchers. The library also received a donation from Mr. Gao, president of Taiwan Province famous publisher Fengxian New Wen Feng Publishing House. Mr. Gao lives on an island and loves mulberries. In order to promote rural cultural education and cross-strait cultural exchanges, he generously donated a batch of precious books worth about NT$ 9 million to our school. According to China Library Classification, Mr. Gao donated more than 504 kinds of books, including 4 1 18. However, due to the large number of bound books and series, the total number of single books is far more than this, and it is estimated that there are not less than 40,000 kinds. Not only a considerable number, but also many of them are fine products, with high academic information and great cultural value, which are really rare and precious cultural wealth.

The library of Xu Normal University is also rich in newspapers and periodicals. Among the collected periodicals, Chinese and foreign periodicals, periodicals before and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, professional periodicals and knowledge-based sci-tech periodicals complement each other. The books and periodicals published by China people before the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially those published by major literary societies and literary research societies in the 1920s and 1930s, are relatively complete, such as Literature Weekly, Novel Monthly, Yusi Weekly, Mangyuan Weekly, Modern Review Weekly, Violet and Saturday and so on. The complete collections of newspapers such as Shenbao, People's Daily, Jiefang Daily, Wen Hui Daily and Salvation Times are extremely valuable materials for the study of China's revolutionary history, ideological history, cultural history and China literature.
