Minghong Middle School was formerly known as Shaowu No.1 Middle School. At the same time, in order to accelerate the development of Shaowu education and realize the important strategic goal of "rejuvenating the city through science and education", according to the planning of Shaowu Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, it is decided to establish Shaowu No.1 Middle School by introducing foreign capital, relying on the prestigious school effect, strong teachers and excellent management experience, and enjoying teaching resources and supporting facilities such as libraries, laboratories, gymnasiums and student dormitories. The establishment of Minghong Middle School has solved the problem of the separation of junior high school and senior high school in Shaowu No.1 Middle School, alleviated the shortage of educational resources in urban middle schools, relieved the pressure of the government, explored a new way of running schools in various forms, and changed the pattern of running schools in Shaowu and even northern Fujian.
