Lianyungang Vocational and Technical College is a comprehensive full-time ordinary college managed by the provincial government and jointly built by provinces and cities. The school's predecessor was Lianyungang Vocational College approved by the Ministry of Education/KLOC-0 in March 1983, and it was renamed Lianyungang Vocational and Technical College in March 1999/KLOC-0.

In September 2008, the school moved into a new campus with more complete and modern functional facilities, covering an area of 1 150 mu and a construction area of 330,000 square meters. At present, there are more than 60 majors, covering industrial manufacturing, agriculture and forestry, biochemistry, civil engineering, manufacturing, electronic information, environmental protection, textile and food, finance and economics, tourism, public services, art, foreign languages and other vocational colleges 12 categories, which has initially formed a relatively complete school-running pattern. The school has more than 0/0000 students/kloc-0, more than 8,000 full-time college students and more than 2,000 adults and middle school students. There are more than 500 faculty members in the school, including 126 teachers with the titles of professor and associate professor, and 2 14 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees. The school library has more than 690,000 books and more than 200 kinds of periodicals/kloc-0. At present, the school has 84 basic and professional laboratories and training centers, 100 many off-campus practice training bases, 7 integrated practice bases in Industry-University-Research independently built by the school, and several national vocational skill appraisal institutes.

The school adheres to the "people-oriented" school-running concept, pays attention to the cultivation of students' quality education and practical ability, pays attention to the cultivation of students' competitive consciousness and innovative ability, and adheres to the road of running higher vocational education. It has successively promoted and deepened a series of reforms in education and teaching, personnel system, scientific research system, Industry-University-Research integration, logistics socialization, etc. Taking Industry-University-Research integration as a strategic measure to promote school development, it has established and improved the training mechanism and mode of integrated talents in Industry-University-Research. In recent years, the school has made great progress in enrollment, employment and foreign cooperation in running schools. The school began to recruit students nationwide in 2000, and now it has enrolled students in 24 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government. The school pays attention to international exchanges and cooperation, and has established sister schools with Mokpo Technical University, Han Tai University, Mokpo Technical College and Saga Women's Short-term University, and sends more than 40 international students and advanced students to each other every year. In addition, there are inter-school cooperation and exchanges with the United States, Canada, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and other countries. The school attaches great importance to the employment of graduates and has established a relatively complete employment information and service network. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates has reached over 95%. Employment destinations are mostly economically developed areas such as the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta. Our school was listed as the first demonstration base for training high-skilled talents by Lianyungang Municipal Government. In 2007, it was commended by Lianyungang as "advanced unit for training high-skilled personnel" and "advanced unit for professional skill appraisal".
