Sun Li (1915031-20020711) was born in Sun Yaocheng Village, Anping County, Hengshui City, Hebei Province, and is a modern and contemporary novelist and essayist in China.

During War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's time, he was engaged in propaganda work in China * * * Production Party. He used to be the editor-in-chief of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Daily, and wrote the Chronicle of Baiyangdian, The Prequel of Tiemu, The Legend of Fengyun and other works. He died in Tianjin on July 1 1 2002 at the age of 90.

Because of Sun Li's school, books enriched his reading of social sciences, literary theoretical works and some Soviet literary works, broadened his horizons and laid a good foundation for later creation and criticism.

1933, after graduating from high school, Sun Li was unable to pursue further studies and was idle at home. The following spring, his father asked someone to find him an employee position in the Works Bureau of Beiping Municipal Government. Due to official duties, he often went to the nearby Peiping Library to read books or go to college, and published articles in Ta Kung Pao under the pseudonym "Sun Yunfu". A few months later, he was dismissed for repeatedly asking for leave and changing directors. Entrusted by his father, he worked as a clerk in Beiping Xiangbi Dongkeng Primary School, and resigned and went home one year later.
