Beijing language and culture university, referred to as Beiyu for short, is an institution of higher learning directly under the Ministry of Education of China, which was founded in 1962. /kloc-0 was named Beijing Language and Culture Institute in June, 1964, and/kloc-0 was renamed Beijing Language and Culture University in June, 1996. In 2002, its name was simplified to Beijing Language and Culture University. By the end of 20 13, 1 1, the school covers an area of more than 300,000 square meters, with a total area of more than 200,000 square meters, a total of 900,000 books in the library and more than 30,000 digital books. There are more than 1272 faculty members, more than 40,000 China students and nearly 9,000 foreign students.

65438-0986 began to recruit graduate students majoring in modern Chinese as a foreign language. 65438-0988, the school began to recruit foreign graduate students for the first time. 1June 996 13 was officially renamed as "Beijing Language and Culture University" with the approval of the Ministry of Education (formerly the State Education Commission). Approved by the Ministry of Education on July 2, 2002, it was simplified to "Beijing Language and Culture University".

Academic research:

By May of 20 14, the school had established a number of research institutions, such as Language Institute, Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language Center, International Chinese Teaching Research Base, Applied Linguistics Institute, Language Information Processing Institute, China Language Policy and Standards Institute, Capital International Cultural Research Base, and Arab Research Center.

Teaching Chinese as a foreign language center is the only national key research base established in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in China, and it is recognized as one of the "humanities and social sciences 100 key research bases of the Ministry of Education".

The Arab Research Center is the regional and national research base of the Ministry of Education, the China Institute of Language Policy and Standards is the research base of the State Language Commission, the International Chinese Teaching Research Base is the Hanban Research Base, and the Capital International Cultural Research Base is the key research base of Beijing.

In 20 13, there were 789 people engaged in scientific research activities in our school, * * * published 44 papers (including 395 domestic academic journals, 27 foreign academic journals, 4 Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan journals 14, and 5 translations), and published 86 books (including 37 monographs, textbooks and ancient books). A total of 77 newly established scientific research projects/kloc-0 (including 54 vertical projects, 24 horizontal projects and 99 university-level projects).
