The library of Harbin Electric Power Vocational and Technical College is integrated with the main teaching building, located on the west side of the main teaching building, with a construction area of more than 2,000 square meters. There are two lending rooms for majors and literature, and basic and social sciences. By March, 2007, there were more than 6,543,800 books. There are four reading rooms for science and technology, social science and new books, which respectively display more than 200 kinds of professional periodicals, more than 0/00 kinds of social science periodicals, 26 kinds of newspapers and more than 500 reading seats. There are eight employees in the library. Among them, there are 1 curator and 7 staff members, who are responsible for the overall work of editing, borrowing, querying and network management of library books and periodicals. Since July, 2006, the library of Harbin Electric Power Vocational and Technical College has begun to rebuild its old site and build a microcomputer automatic management system. We chose version 6.5 of Muse Document Management Integration System published by Dalian Netcom Software Co., Ltd., which lasted for one year from the installation and debugging of the software to the training and the retrospective database construction of all the books in the collection, and has been basically completed at present. From then on, we got rid of the borrowing and returning method of handwritten cards, and realized the microcomputer automatic management of book borrowing, inquiry, purchase and reader flow statistics. In 2007, the college will build an additional floor on the original site of the library, increasing the construction area by nearly 1000 square meters, and it is planned to be completed in June 10. By then, the college library will take on a new look, and its place and functions will be greatly improved. At the same time, we promise that the library's work level and service quality will reach a new level, strive to create a new situation in library work, and make contributions to the creation of high-quality vocational and technical colleges.
