Methods and skills of shortening sentences
When shortening a sentence, we should pay attention to three points: first, it does not change the meaning of the original sentence; second, it does not change the structure of the original sentence; third, it is still a sentence after abbreviation. The methods and techniques are as follows-

1, the modifier and the word before the abbreviation are removed.

Some long sentences have many modifiers, so the word before the word "di" can be removed. For example, Xiaohua Mall basks in the sun happily.

Adverbs indicate the state of the word, "happy", which can be removed and the trunk kept.

Abbreviation: Xiaohua Mall basks in the sun.

2. Abbreviate descriptive words and words before the word "de".

Some decorative descriptive words in long sentences are placed before nouns, and the words before the word "de" belong to this kind of words and can be removed.

The beautiful girl sang a beautiful song. Descriptive words include "beauty" and "wonderful", which can be removed.

Abbreviation: A girl sings a song.

3. Abbreviate the supplementary explanatory words to get the words after the words.

Some words with supplementary explanations in long sentences, that is, complements, can be deleted. The words added after "de" can be deleted. For example, athletes enjoy sports. The complement is "happy" and can be deleted. Abbreviation: athletes' sports.

4. Abbreviate sentences to remove adverbials, such as time and place.

Some long sentences contain many adverbials, such as time and place, which can be deleted. Last Saturday, the girl was reading in the library. The adverbial of time is "last Saturday" and can be deleted. The adverbial of place is "in the library" and can be deleted. Abbreviation: Girls read books.

5. Abbreviate quantifiers and keep the central word.

Some long sentences contain quantifiers, such as a batch, a group, a hundred, a pot and so on, which can be deleted.

The girl found two potted flowers. The quantifier in the sentence is "two pots" and can be deleted. The last abbreviation is: the girl found the flowers.

6. Find out the subject, predicate and object of the sentence.

"The happy girl is going to the supermarket with a handbag." This is a long sentence. You can find the subject "girl" and the predicate is "shopping". Some sentences have no object, but they must have a subject and a predicate. The abbreviation of this sentence is: girls' shop.

7. Compare the main words and find the central word.

"The apple trees in the park near my home are covered with big red apples. This is a long sentence. First, find out the main words. The themes are "in the park" and "in the apple tree". The predicate is "full" and the object is "apple". Because apples can only grow on apple trees, the central word is apple trees. The abbreviation of this sentence is: the apple tree is full of apples.

Precautions:

1, turn long sentences into short sentences, and keep the original intention unchanged;

2. Pay attention to the skills of using abbreviations skillfully.
