Two-color book is a two-color printing design used in printed books.

Two-color printing design is simply a process of reproducing the original effect of an image by using the combination of two different colors of ink through color separation technology. Generally speaking, among the four-color plates of C, M, Y and K, the combination of black (K) plate and other process engraving materials (C, M and Y) can enhance the contrast of image tone, because the black plate has a strong distribution of image tone information in the dark.

Key points of two-color printing design

The tone information of the black version is weakened in lightness, and the tone levels of C, M and Y are stronger, which makes the tone level change and color change of the image superimposed together, making it easier to reproduce the original tone level and tone information of the image. While the combination of C, M and Y has a wide color range in the light, but it lacks image hierarchy in the dark, which leads to a small contrast of image tone and makes it difficult to reproduce the original effect of the image. So two-color printing design mostly refers to the combination of black and other spot colors.

The key of two-color printing design is to achieve the desired color effect by changing the relationship between two-color combinations on the basis of fully protecting the original level and tone information of the image, and the best tool to achieve this color effect is the two-color in the image processing software of the photo studio.

Double color is to achieve the image effect that graphic designers want by adjusting the curves of two different colors. That is to say, the two-color printing design is not a direct reduction of C, M, Y and K (two channels are subtracted and two channels are kept), but is based on the structural principle of the gray mode image itself. Adjust the two colors through the curve tool and re-color the combination at different levels.
