The annual summer vacation has finally arrived. This year, like last year, I still went to participate in the charity activity of "Reading Take Me Fly" organized by my mother's company. Let me tell you something about this activity. The company donates part of the annual investment income to primary schools in poor mountainous areas of China to build libraries for them, because mom and her colleagues believe that only reading can lead children to fly.

Our destination this year is ten rural primary schools in Jiuquan, Gansu. My job is still teaching assistant, but this year's teacher is different. He is not an adult, but a child two years older than me. I call him Brother Dongdong. We have made a lot of preparations for this class.

We set off before dawn, and we came to the central primary school in Huahai Township, Jiuquan City. After the solemn flag-raising ceremony, we began to work. Dongdong and I are in charge of the third grade pupils. At first, we were all nervous and completely at a loss. There are more than 60 students in the audience. Many students stopped our class because there were no desks and chairs.

Our topic is "The Long River of History". Teacher Dongdong told us the origin of Gansu and Jiuquan, as well as the stories of Hong Kong and Macao. She also opened a map for students to point out their hometown on the stage. Teacher Dongdong introduced his hometown in Xi 'an, where there are Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Huashan Mountain. I said my hometown is in Shenzhen. Shenzhen used to be a fishing village, but now it has become prosperous. The city is a city where countless young people struggle.

Finally, we talked about the categories of books. Some students answered Chinese books, while others answered comic books. So I followed the teacher's example and told everyone: "Books are divided into three categories, namely, in-class books, extracurricular books and reference books.

A very meaningful lesson. I hope I can become a qualified public welfare teacher like Dongdong next year.
