There are more than 2.7 million children in Guangzhou, but there is only a small and dysfunctional children's library. Due to the lack of space and long-term overload operation, the city children's library has not added shelves since 2003, and the collection in the library has maintained a "zero growth" trend. Yong 'an Hall, where the museum is located, was originally built as a private residence. It has a history of nearly 70 years. At present, the building has been "aging", the external environment is not satisfactory, and there are many hidden dangers. It is reported that the reconstruction plan of children's library has also been included in the 11th Five-Year Plan of Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture. Although the scheme of "new construction or reconstruction" has not yet been determined, the change of its status quo is just around the corner.
The reporter learned that Yong 'antang sits west to east, and the back street on the first floor is built across the sidewalk in the form of arcade. The building area of this museum is 425 1 m2, and the building is 6 stories high. Above it is a bell tower with a flagpole at the top. The whole building is vigorous, simple and solemn. According to curator Liu Honghui, because Yong 'an Hall was originally built as a private residence, its functional layout cannot meet the requirements of being a public library, and there are many restrictions. In addition, according to the original design, the safe service life of Yong 'antang is about 70 years. Now this building has been built and used for 68 years. At present, cracks have been found in the wall and ground, which is a potential safety hazard.
