The overall architectural planning and design of Qian Xuesen Library is led by Professor He Jingtang, academician of China Academy of Engineering and designer of China Pavilion of World Expo. The whole library is a Fang Ding-style ochre building, and the outer wall is engraved with the relief of Qian Xuesen's head. Designers use advanced technology and rely entirely on different texture densities of brick materials to express this relief, and successfully use "images" to meet the commemorative theme.

The design concept of "earthy feeling, rock-breaking" is adopted in the modeling of library buildings. On the one hand, the "founder's stone" implies that Qian Lao's heart is childlike feelings for the motherland; On the other hand, the architectural space scene of generate's missile in Cracked Stone symbolizes the great cause of Qian Lao's "two bombs and one satellite breaking the ground". The design scheme shows the square building volume with a simple and powerful image, and abstractly expresses the image of the Gobi wind erosion rock that Qian Lao dedicated his life with a straight square shape.
