Making structural columns can improve the shear bearing capacity of brick masonry. The research shows that it can improve the shear bearing capacity of brick, at least by about 10-30%, which can inhibit the cracking of wall and play a certain role in the development of cracks. Constructional columns should be set on both sides of large openings and at the ends of unconstrained walls. When there is no frame column at the corner of the wall and the junction of walls with different thicknesses, constructional columns should be set.
