Training objectives: This major aims to cultivate students with both ability and political integrity, innovative consciousness and international vision, be competent for translation, interpretation or other cross-cultural communication in foreign affairs, business, education, culture, science and technology, military and other fields, and become a new force for national philosophy and social sciences to go abroad and introduce international advanced technology and culture.
Training requirements: Students in this major mainly study the basic theories and knowledge of language and translation, receive language skills and knowledge training in both Chinese and foreign languages, master the basic skills of cross-cultural communication and Chinese-English translation, and have the basic ability of interpretation and translation.
Graduates should have the following knowledge and abilities:
1. Master language knowledge and ability, including foreign language pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar knowledge, foreign language listening, speaking, reading and writing ability, Chinese knowledge and writing ability, speech and debate ability, and language learning ability;
2. Master the basic theory, knowledge and ability of translation, including interpretation and translation skills, interpretation and translation theory, intercultural communication ability and comprehensive quality of translators;
3. Master the relevant knowledge and ability required for translation, including social and cultural knowledge at home and abroad, linguistics and literature knowledge, knowledge of using modern information technology and translation tools, international business knowledge and public diplomacy knowledge;
