Information Construction of the Library of University of Science and Technology of China
The Library of University of Science and Technology of China promotes the construction of electronic resources. The library has two gigabit network interfaces connected to the campus network, and uses routing technology to construct a virtual library subnet to manage and control the literature resources, computer equipment and business processes distributed in three campuses. Readers can conduct multimedia learning and document information retrieval through electronic reading rooms located in the west and south areas respectively.

Wireless networks have been installed in the reading areas of the three buildings of the library of the University of Science and Technology of China, providing readers with barrier-free internet access services. The library introduces Huiwen management system to realize the computerization and networking of library business management, enjoy data through Z39.50, and provide readers with OPAC query of all Chinese and foreign books and periodicals. At the same time, Web server, Huiwen server and several database mirror servers have been established, and multimedia teaching on demand system, CD-ROM system attached with books, library reader forum, etc. have been developed by ourselves, and the information content of library homepage has been constantly updated.

With the support of the national "2 1 1" and "985" projects, great progress has been made in the networking and digitalization of libraries. By the end of 2009, there were 45 foreign language databases and Chinese databases 1 1, including various well-known large-scale comprehensive databases and full-text databases of publications of various authoritative professional societies. Teachers and students can conveniently access 500,000 Chinese e-books, 70,000 foreign e-books, more than 20,000 foreign e-journals, 18000 Chinese e-journals and 20,000 international master's and doctoral dissertations through the campus network.
