Since 1993, the library has realized computer cataloging. With the start of the 2 1 1 project in our school, 1997 built the library LAN and the library bibliography database. 1999 established the mirror website of China academic journals. At present, there are two multimedia reading rooms, which provide readers with good conditions for searching electronic literature resources online.
The library is a member of the China Higher Education Document Guarantee System (CALLS) project, and has undertaken several sub-projects such as China Current Publications Catalogue Database, Dissertation Database and Book Joint Catalogue Database.
The library of Beijing Forestry University is one of the first key university libraries in China to implement the "2 1 1 Project", with more than 50 years of literature collection history and experience. The library was opened in June 2004, with a building area of 23,400 square meters and a reading room with 3,258 seats. Is a collection, borrowing, reading as one of the library, comfortable and elegant environment, advanced facilities.
At present, the library has nine departments, including office, resource construction department, circulation department, reading department, technology department, consulting and training department, special collection department, textbook distribution department and logistics department. The Library and Information Work Committee of the National Forestry College, the Import Textbook Center of the National Forestry College and the Science and Technology Information Professional Committee of Beijing Institute of Science and Technology Information Society are also located in our library.
There are 108 employees in the library, including 70 employees in preparation, with bachelor degree or above accounting for 67%, postgraduate degree accounting for 25% and senior professional title accounting for 26%.
The library's collection of documents is rich in variety and distinctive in characteristics, which can basically meet the teaching and research needs of undergraduates and graduate students. The newly established majors in the school can also be fully guaranteed by literature. There are 13 14500 paper documents and 743200 electronic documents in the collection. It has formed a collection system featuring forestry, biology, forestry engineering, ecological environment and horticulture, integrating science, engineering, literature, management, economics, law and art, with interdisciplinary features, which can effectively support discipline construction and talent training.
With the help of the national "2 1 1 Project" and "2 1 Century Education Revitalization Action Plan", the library has built a gigabit backbone network. At present, the library is equipped with 49 1 high-configuration microcomputer, high-performance IBM server, large-capacity storage equipment and advanced book management software, which realizes the comprehensive automatic management of library business. Building management such as access control, security, fire protection and broadcasting is intelligent, and library automation, networking and information construction have been further developed.
The library has senior librarians who are responsible for consulting and answering questions every day. Publicize library resources through various activities such as freshmen's entrance education and literature retrieval course teaching, strengthen readers' understanding of the library, improve readers' information quality, and form a relatively complete consulting system.
