The school was founded in 194 1, formerly known as "National Guiyang Teachers College"; 1950, renamed "Guiyang Normal University"; 1956 was officially handed over to the people's government of Guizhou province by the Ministry of Education of China. 1958, the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to establish a new "Guizhou University" in the form of a joint school in Guiyang Normal University. 1959, Guizhou University left our school; 1985 was renamed as "Guizhou Normal University"; 1996 was identified as a provincial key university by Guizhou provincial people's government; In 2004, the former Guizhou Vocational and Technical College merged; In 2006, it was once again identified as a provincial key university by the Guizhou Provincial People's Government.
