Basic Reading Bibliography for Primary School Students in China is recommended by New Reading Research Institute, a public welfare research institution founded by Zhu Yongxin. It contains 30 basic reading books and 70 recommended reading books, and several books in literature, science and humanities are selected according to the three levels of primary school.

Among them, there are a number of literary masterpieces, such as Butterfly Pea Blossoms, Piglets Snoring, Pippi Stockings and Poems of a Thousand Schools, as well as China Fairy Tales, Thousand-character Works, Three-character Classics, Disciples' Rules, Confucius' Tales, Insects, Pigs' Warning and School Notes.

The bibliography was developed by experts organized by the New Reading Research Institute, a public welfare research institution, and officially released in the National Library on 20 1 1. It contains 30 basic reading materials and 70 recommended reading materials. According to the three stages of primary school, several humanities reading materials are selected respectively.

A survey shows that 59.2% students spend only a little time reading extracurricular books, and 6.2% students spend zero time reading. Dr. Wang Lin, the person in charge of the project, introduced that the Basic Reading Bibliography for Primary School Students in China was organized by the project team to participate in the research with experts in children's pedagogy, children's psychology and children's literature and a group of primary school teachers. With reference to nearly 50 children's literature awards at home and abroad and more than 100 recommended books, the basic books for primary school students in China are selected from tens of thousands of books that primary school students can read.
