Its predecessor, the Department of Mathematics of Lanzhou University, was founded in 1946, with a history of more than 60 years. Over the past 60 years, under the leadership of mathematicians of the older generation such as Chen Qingyi and Chen Wenyuan, and through the hard work of teachers and students from generation to generation, we have achieved fruitful results in teaching, scientific research, discipline construction and personnel training, and delivered a large number of outstanding talents for the country. At present, there is a complete talent training system from bachelor, master, doctor to postdoctoral, especially in 2005, the discipline construction has reached a new level.

The College of Mathematics and Statistics now has the Institute of Basic Mathematics, the Institute of Applied Mathematics, the Institute of Computational Mathematics, the Institute of Operation and Control, the Institute of Probability and Statistics and the Department of Mathematics Teaching, as well as the Mathematics Reference Room, the Scientific Computing and Cluster System Laboratory, the Financial Mathematics and Engineering Laboratory, the Numerical Simulation and Mathematical Modeling Laboratory (undergraduate) and the postgraduate computer room.

The College of Mathematics and Statistics has two undergraduate majors, namely, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics and Information and Computational Science, among which Mathematics and Applied Mathematics are newly approved by the Ministry of Education. There are basic classes (mathematical bases for training basic scientific research and teaching talents), Longji classes, first-class doctoral programs in mathematics (basic mathematics was established as early as 1984), post-doctoral mobile stations in mathematics, and first-class key disciplines in Gansu Province.

The college has 8 1 faculty and 72 full-time teachers, including professors 15 and associate professors 16. There are 0/2 doctoral supervisors/kloc-and 27 master supervisors. There are 46 teachers with doctoral degrees; Seven people enjoy the special government allowance of the State Council, the Ministry of Education 1 trans-century talents, two winners of the Young Teacher Award of the Ministry of Education, three winners of the New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education and four winners of the Excellent Teacher Award of Baosteel Education Fund.

There are 543 undergraduates, 265,438+08 postgraduates and 90 doctoral students.

In the past five years, teachers in our college have carried out 54 scientific research projects, including 26 national natural science funds (key projects 1) and national social science funds 1, 1973 pre-research projects 1. Won two first prizes of Gansu Natural Science Award, two second prizes of Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education 1 item, and several second and third prizes of Gansu Scientific and Technological Progress Award. 322 papers included in SCI were published, and the quality of scientific research papers was significantly improved. In the ten years from 1 996 to 2005, among the 22 papers published by China Institute of Science and Technology Information and cited more than 200 times,1paper was selected by our institute, and 2 14 papers were cited, ranking 18 in China.

The College of Mathematics and Statistics insists on taking undergraduate education, postgraduate training and mathematical research as an organic whole and always puts it in the center. Adhere to the goal of discipline construction, take the construction of teaching staff as the core, and take teaching and scientific research as the basis to comprehensively promote the steady development of the overall work of the college.
