Brief introduction of national senior high school mathematics league
1980, at the first national conference on the popularization of mathematics held in Dalian, it was decided to take the mathematics competition as a regular work of the Chinese Mathematical Society and the mathematical societies of all provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, and hold the "National Senior High School Mathematics Joint Competition" 10 on the first Sunday in mid-June every year.

The competition is divided into preliminary and semi-final. About 200 students from all over the country who have achieved excellent results in this competition are eligible to participate in "China Mathematical Olympiad (CMO) and National Middle School Students' Mathematics Winter Camp" sponsored by chinese mathematical society Olympic Committee (every year 1 month). The number of participants in each province varies from 3 to 8, depending on the results of the league in that year, and the host province has additional concessions.

In order to promote the growth of top-notch talents as soon as possible, the Ministry of Education stipulates that those who win the first prize of the National Mathematics League in high school are eligible to walk to key universities, and those who do not walk will get extra points in the college entrance examination. The extra points will depend on the policies of various provinces and cities. Some provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions have retained the extra points for the winners of the college entrance examination ranging from 5 to 20 points, and some provincial administrative regions have cancelled the extra points for the competition. For the winners of the second prize and the third prize, various provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions have introduced different policies, including preferential admission policies such as independent enrollment qualifications. For strict standards, chinese mathematical society limits the number of first prizes to about 1 000 per year, which is divided into provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. All provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions submit their own papers while reporting the list of candidates for the first prize. Finally, chinese mathematical society will determine the winners after reviewing their papers. Initiated by mathematicians of the older generation, such as Hua and Su, from 65438 to 0956, middle school mathematics competitions were held, and mathematics competitions were held in Beijing, Shanghai, Fujian, Tianjin, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chengdu and other provinces and cities, and high school mathematics leagues were jointly held in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangdong, Sichuan, Liaoning and Anhui.

From 65438 to 0979, 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in Chinese mainland held middle school mathematics competitions.

The purpose of the National Senior High School Mathematics League is to select students who have outstanding expertise in mathematics, let them enter national famous universities, and select outstanding students to enter higher-level competitions until the International Mathematical Olympics (IMO). And through the way of competition, cultivate middle school students' interest in mathematics, make students love and learn mathematics, and stimulate students' spirit of inquiry, independent thinking and cooperation.
