Why does it take more than ten days to mark the college entrance examination?
Fortunately, I have participated in the marking of college entrance examination in a province. Let's talk about the marking work in my mind.

Objective questions, such as multiple-choice questions, are mainly completed by machine scanning, and there is basically no need for manual marking.

Subjective questions, such as fill-in-the-blank questions, questions and answers, can't be judged by machines, and people basically correct them on computers.

Most of the students who take part in the marking work are graduate students of disciplines and majors, and there are also substitute teachers transferred from high schools in the province.

The college entrance examination ended on June 8th, and from the 9th, our marking began.

The first is a three-day training. On the first day, we will be divided into different groups according to the title number, and special teachers will set the marking standards for their respective topics, such as grading scores and what kind of circumstances need to be deducted. In the meantime, the standards will be revised continuously until the last afternoon, and we will explain them carefully to ensure that everyone understands all the scoring standards.

Then there is the formal marking work. We work for more than seven hours every day, and we can have a rest for two hours at noon. The rest of the time is uninterrupted marking. At the end of the day, the number of papers per capita is about 1.8 million.

Moreover, the score of the test paper is not determined by one person, and a test paper is randomly distributed to two people. Only when the scores of two people are within the given error range can the test paper score be valid. If the scores of the two people are too different, they will enter the third evaluation. So each test paper needs to be read at least twice.

It is conceivable that there are so many college entrance examinations in the province, the number of test papers has at least doubled, and the workload is still very large, not to mention the different work efficiency between individuals.

In my two marking work, it takes a week to complete all the marking of a scheme, plus three days of training, which is already thirteen days. Moreover, it is necessary to sort out the total score in the later stage, and it is understandable that it takes more than ten days to mark the college entrance examination.
