The national high school mathematics joint competition is the highest level mathematics competition in China's high school stage, and its status is much higher than that held by the provinces themselves. The competition is divided into preliminary and semi-final. About 90 students who have achieved excellent results in this competition are eligible to participate in the "China Mathematical Olympics (CMO) and the National Mathematics Winter Camp for Middle School Students" hosted by chinese mathematical society (every year 1 month). The top six first prize winners (10 in some provinces and no less than 3 in western provinces) can participate in the China Mathematical Olympics and get the opportunity to enter the national training team.
