Suzhou, located in the middle of the Yangtze River Delta, in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, borders Shanghai in the east, Zhejiang in the south, Taihu Lake in the west and the Yangtze River in the north, with a total area of 8657.32 square kilometers. The city is low-lying, with many rivers and lakes. Most of the surface of Taihu Lake is in Suzhou, which is a famous water town in the south of the Yangtze River.

The name "Suzhou" originated in Sui Dynasty. In the ninth year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (589), Emperor Emperor Wen of Sui of Sui Dynasty changed the "Wu Jun" established in the south to "Suzhou" in the name of Gusu Mountain. Suzhou City was founded on Saturday (5 14), with a history of more than 2,500 years, and basically maintained a double chessboard pattern of "land and water parallel, river and street adjacent".

Suzhou implements the combination of junior high school graduation examination and entrance examination, which is collectively referred to as "junior high school level examination" (referred to as "senior high school entrance examination"). The examination forms include paper-and-pencil examination (open book or closed book), computer examination (answering questions on the computer or man-machine conversation), on-site test, work or performance appraisal (individual homework, grade or group homework, grade), process test or examination, etc.

On June 17, the 2023 Suzhou Senior High School Entrance Examination kicked off. More than 98,000 candidates in the city took exams in 7 subjects, including Chinese and Mathematics, at 2 19 test center. It is one of the first batch of 24 famous historical and cultural cities in China with its unique style of "small bridge and flowing water and white tile ancient garden", and has the reputation of "there is paradise above and Suzhou and Hangzhou below". Representatives of private gardens in China-Suzhou Classical Garden and Suzhou Section of China Grand Canal are listed as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, and most scenic spots in Taihu Lake are located in Suzhou.
