What contribution did Zhu Shijie, a mathematician in Yuan Dynasty, make to mathematics?
Zhu Shijie (about 1280 ~ about 1350), the most famous mathematician in Yuan Dynasty, was born in Hebei. He "traveled around, revisited Guangling (Yangzhou), followed the door and gathered many people" ("Muruo: Four Yuan Jade Preface"). Zhu Shijie was a folk mathematician and a master of mathematics at that time. There is no need to mention more about his achievements, just a copy of Meeting in Philip Burkart is enough. This is a book about multivariate higher-order equations and higher-order arithmetic progression, in which the general formula of higher-order difference is exactly the same as Newton's later formula. His research level has surpassed that of Qin, Zhou and Qing Dynasties.
