The American College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition (MCM/ICM), sponsored by the American Federation of Mathematics and Its Applications, is the highest-level mathematical modeling competition in the world and the most influential mathematical modeling competition in the world.

The content of the competition involves many fields such as economy, management, environment, resources, ecology, medicine and safety. The competition requires three people (both undergraduate and graduate students can participate) as a group.

Within four days, all the work of the assigned problem from modeling, solving, verifying to writing a paper was completed, which reflected the ability of the contestants to study problems and solutions and the spirit of teamwork. He is the originator of all kinds of mathematical modeling competitions today.

In order to cultivate students' innovative consciousness and the ability to solve practical problems by using mathematical methods and computer technology, China Optimization and Economic Mathematics Research Association decided to hold the 12th MathorCup University Mathematical Modeling Challenge in 2022.

The purpose of this competition is to build a platform to show the academic foundation of college students, improve their ability to solve social hot issues by using theoretical knowledge, broaden their scientific research horizons, encourage students to actively participate in extracurricular scientific and technological activities, and cultivate innovative spirit and cooperative consciousness.
