Because the examinations for Grade 4 and Grade 8 were introduced by the former State Education Commission in 1992, the Intermediate People's Court actively implemented them in 14 and achieved excellent results. In 2008, the passing rate of TEM4 was 90.65%, which was much higher than the national average of 6 1.83%. The German major of Foreign Languages Institute adheres to the school-running concept of "one specialty and many abilities" and trains compound German senior talents with excellent comprehensive quality. During the four-year study in university, students should not only master German well, but also have a solid German foundation. Their comprehensive abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation develop in a balanced way. At the same time, they have mastered the knowledge of a second foreign language (English), computer automation, economy and trade, tourism and management. The main courses offered are: basic German, advanced German reading and writing, German studies, spoken German, German audio-visual and German newspapers and periodicals. Graduates of this major mainly serve foreign trade, foreign trade, foreign-related enterprises and institutions, tourism reception, teaching and research departments.
The German Department was founded in 1998. At present, there are 8 teachers, including German experts 1 person sent by the Federal German Academic Exchange Center and foreign teachers 1 person. There are 2 professors, 2 associate professors, 2 lecturers and 2 teaching assistants. Among them, doctor 1 person, and 2 doctors are studying. According to the discipline development plan, 50% of teachers will have doctoral degrees in five years. In the past five years, teachers in our department have published more than 30 papers, 20 of which have been published in core journals. There are 3 monographs and 5 translations, which won the National Translation Award 1 item. Since 2000, German majors have trained master students, with 5 graduates, who have played an active role in teaching, foreign affairs, enterprises and other fields. German undergraduate 150, has graduated from six undergraduate courses. In the past two years, the passing rate of German major in CET-4 is 95%, and the average score has entered the top 7 of the 50 German departments in China. The development of economic and trade relations between Germany and China provides a good employment environment for graduates. The employment rate has remained at 100% for many years. Twenty graduates have worked in the railway system and directly participated in the technical translation of high-speed railway. Among the liberal arts departments in the school, only German graduates directly invest in the construction of high-speed rail in China. Graduates of this department play an important role in teaching, scientific translation, commerce, banking, foreign affairs and other fields.
