The Department of Applied Physics is one of the earliest departments established in Hunan University. As early as when Hunan University was named, there was a department of mathematical physics, and its major was physics. 1929 Hunan university has established a school of science, and still has a department of mathematics and science. The department of mathematics and physics of 1932 is divided into mathematics department and physics department. After several adjustments, it was officially named the Department of Applied Physics on 1985. The disciplines of the Department of Applied Physics are distributed under three first-class disciplines, covering science, engineering and liberal arts. At present, there are four master's majors in theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, microelectronics and solid-state electronics, and educational technology, and four master's majors in electronics and communication engineering, materials physics and chemistry. Among them, theoretical physics obtained a master's degree with 1985, becoming the earliest master's program in physics in the province. The department of applied physics has teaching units such as applied physics teaching and research section, electronic science and technology teaching and research section, university physics teaching and research section and university physics experiment center. There are seven research institutes, including mesoscopic materials and computational materials physics, photoelectric materials and information materials, functional materials, theoretical physics, microelectronics, modern educational technology and experimental instruments. At present, there are two undergraduate majors in applied physics, electronic science and technology, and they undertake the science and engineering experimental class of Lida, Hunan University.
At present, there are 88 faculty members, including 1 person from the National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 1 person from the Cross-century Talents Training Program and the Outstanding Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education, and 3 winners from the "Hundred Talents Program" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Among the teachers, doctoral supervisor 1 1 person, full professor 17 person and associate professor 25 person. This year, the undergraduate entrance examination rate reached 29%, and the employment rate reached 98%.
At present, he has undertaken the teaching tasks of college physics and college physics experiment, which are the basic courses of the whole school. College physics is one of the first basic courses to obtain provincial key courses, and college physics experiment was awarded 1998 school-level key course. In 2005, the University Physics Experiment Center was awarded the title of Hunan Demonstration Laboratory and listed. The demonstration laboratory was reopened after adding updated experimental equipment, which was welcomed by students. These laboratories have become the highlight of undergraduate teaching in our department.
Under the guidance of the idea of "strengthening infrastructure, maintaining the advantages of science, promoting the combination of science and engineering, and entering the first-class ranks", the discipline construction has developed rapidly, the construction of teachers has achieved remarkable results, undergraduate education has shown its characteristics, and scientific research achievements have been outstanding. After years of construction, our department has gradually formed a multi-level and multi-directional teaching and scientific research academic group with basic theoretical research, applied research and engineering technology research. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 40 vertical and horizontal scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation, with funding of more than 3 million yuan. He has published more than 200 papers in authoritative journals, including more than SCI and EI retrieval papers 100, and won more than 20 scientific research and teaching achievement awards.
