The mathematics major of Jilin University is a comprehensive university, and its mathematics discipline once dominated one party and was in a leading position in some directions in China. However, due to the influence of geography and brain drain, the strength of mathematics discipline in Jilin University has been seriously weakened. At present, the School of Mathematics of Jilin University has a deep foundation in numerical solutions of partial differential equations (especially finite element method), dynamic systems (especially Hamilton system), operator theory and related fields. It has a good development in commutative ring theory, affine geometry and operational research.
