Automation major was established in 2007, and has been successively rated as the characteristic major of colleges and universities in Henan Province, the pilot major of undergraduate engineering education and training mode reform in ordinary colleges and universities in Henan Province, the pilot major of comprehensive reform in colleges and universities in Henan Province, and the national first-class undergraduate major construction site. Control theory and control engineering, the main discipline supported by automation specialty, are the key disciplines in Henan Province.

Electrical engineering and automation specialty was established in 2008, and was approved as a provincial first-class undergraduate construction site in 20 19. In 2020, the application for professional certification of engineering education was accepted, and in 20021,the self-evaluation report of professional certification was submitted for experts' admission. In 2022, it was approved as a national first-class undergraduate professional construction site. There is a team of teachers with reasonable age and title structure, high academic level and strong teaching ability.
