English major teaching:

1. First of all, the qualifications of English majors in colleges and universities are mixed. Basically, any school can offer English majors, whether it is a college of arts and sciences, a teachers' college, an engineering college or a science college, whether it has a long history or just started running a school. Although the foreign language colleges in some universities are called foreign language colleges, they only offer English majors, not to mention some universities that have just passed the qualification promotion of the Ministry of Education. The first batch of majors include English, and a group of teachers who used to teach majors are directly brought in to teach undergraduates, as well as various institutions that end with "Foreign Languages Institute". In fact, their ability to run a school is not strong. Therefore, English major has the lowest threshold for running a school.

2. Secondly, apart from English majors in a few elite universities, there will be a detailed breakdown of their major directions, such as translation direction, interpretation direction, translation direction, literature direction, linguistics direction, etc. However, most English majors, especially those in non-2 1 1/985 universities, are a hodgepodge. For example, some English majors in business and finance colleges will offer business and finance courses on a large scale, and some colleges will combine normal courses. As far as English-related teaching is concerned, the school only carries out general education through listening, speaking, reading and writing. As for specialized courses, there are only some compulsory courses left, such as general situation of Britain and America, selected reading of newspapers and periodicals in Britain and America, and English and American literature. To tell the truth, most of the contents of these courses should be learned by high school liberal arts students. In schools with poor students, this kind of course will eventually become a chat and friendship class between teachers and students, and ultimately nothing will be learned.

Third, most English majors in ordinary schools are not enthusiastic about English majors. You will find that although you have studied English major, you can't feel the atmosphere of English major at all except in some classes. Your classmates talk to you in Chinese, and your classmates may watch Korean dramas, martial arts dramas and so on in the dormitory. The final exam for English majors is a surprise recitation one month before the end of the semester. The only difference is how carefully you recite it. Here, I would like to remind boys in particular that if you are not particularly enthusiastic about English College and apply carefully, you will find that the ratio of male to female is 1: 10, and your classmates are all sissies.

Britain has an advantage that students in ordinary schools can overtake in corners as long as they work hard. English is a language. Unlike some virtual majors, it is a major whose academic and professional abilities can be easily quantified. Let's just say that a large number of 985/2 1 1 British college students are still measured by their academic qualifications, such as TEM-8, IELTS TOEFL and interpretation certificates. However, these academic qualifications are unified all over the country, and there will be no difference just because you are 985 and I am a double-non-school. For example, in an ordinary college, you did very well in TEM-8, scored 8 in IELTS and got two in the whole country. In a sense, you are not worse than some students of 985/2 1 1, and you also have a great advantage in the job market, because English major is the major that pays least attention to academic qualifications and background. Of course, all this is based on your four years of hard work in college.
