Approved by the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Province has implemented the "3+ Academic Level Examination+Comprehensive Quality Evaluation" college entrance examination scheme since 2008.

"3" refers to Chinese, mathematics and foreign languages, with Chinese 160 (40 points for liberal arts plus test questions), mathematics 160 (40 points for science plus test questions) and foreign languages 120, out of 480 points.

The required subjects of the academic proficiency test are: physics, chemistry, biology, ideology and politics, history, geography and information technology, with the original full score of 100.

Candidates are required to take five compulsory subjects that are not optional subjects for the academic proficiency test, among which information technology is only used as a compulsory subject for the academic proficiency test. The compulsory subjects for the academic proficiency test are rated as qualified and unqualified according to the original scores, with 60 points or above as qualified and the rest as unqualified.

All the required subjects in the academic level examination of ordinary candidates must be "qualified" before they can take the college entrance examination and elective subject examination.

Elective subjects of the academic proficiency test are: physics, chemistry, biology, ideology and politics, history and geography, with the original full score of 120.

Liberal arts candidates should take a history test, science candidates should take a physics test, and then choose one from chemistry, biology, politics and geography. Elective subjects of academic proficiency test are graded according to the original scores, which are divided into six categories: A+[0%-5%], A (5%-20%], B+(20-30%) and B (30%).

Because of the low total score of the program, the score is flat and dense, the operation is complicated, and the subjects such as physics and chemistry are not included in the total score, which makes it difficult to select science talents. Therefore, the implementation of the program has been controversial so far.
