1985 10, Casio released the world's first graphic calculator fx-7000G. Its 16*8 character arrangement and 63*95 lattice function image display function are still used by calculators such as TI-84 Plus.

1987, HP released HP-28C, the first calculator with drawing function. Later models include HP-28S (1988), HP-48SX (1990), HP-48S (199 1) and other graphic calculators. The HP 50g introduced in 2006 has a computer algebra system (CAS).

Texas Instruments began to produce graphic calculators from 1990. The oldest model is TI-8 1, and then there are TI-82 series, TI-83 series, TI-84 Plus and so on. TI-89 and TI-92 have computer algebra system (CAS). TI-nspire series was launched in 2007 and is one of the strongest graphic calculators in the world.

Chinese and foreign high school math teachers often allow and even encourage students to use graphic calculators in class.

Almost all students in Europe and America have a graphic calculator, which is a very popular scientific learning tool and even necessary in some courses (such as calculus). Most of the exams in foreign middle schools and universities are allowed to bring graphic calculators.

Even in the rematch (written test) of all high school mathematics application competitions held in Beijing, China, graphic calculators and scientific calculators are allowed to be brought into the examination room.
