The Life of the Characters in Marvin Minsky's Works
Minsky 1927 was born in new york on August 9th. His father is an ophthalmologist and an artist. His mother is an active Zionist (what an interesting coincidence: McCarthy's mother is a Jew from Lithuania and an active feminist). In primary and secondary schools, Minsky attended a private school and showed interest in electronics and chemistry. His scope of activities is basically the intellectual class. 1945 After graduating from high school, Minsky was drafted into the army and trained with about 120 other recruits at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in northern Chicago. According to Minsky himself, it was the first and last time that he mixed with non-academics. After leaving the army, he entered Harvard University from 65438 to 0946 to major in physics, but his elective courses were quite extensive, including electrical engineering, mathematics, genetics and other disciplines. For a time, he also participated in the research project of the Department of Psychology. At that time, some popular theories and doctrines about the origin of mind made it difficult for him to accept. For example, burrhus frederic skinner (1904- 1990), an economist of new behavioral psychology, put forward a theory based on some facts of animal behavior, equating human learning with animal learning. Minsky didn't agree, which inspired his determination to make this difficult problem clear. Later, he gave up physics and mathematics, graduated from 1950, and then entered the graduate school of Princeton University for further study.
