The international mathematics competition began in 2005 and has been held in Singapore for six times so far. Thousands of students from nearly 100 primary and secondary schools and educational institutions in Singapore, the Philippines, Chinese mainland, China, Hongkong, China, Taipei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea, Thailand and other countries and regions participated in the competition. The activity was strongly supported and helped by Education Service Department of Singapore Tourism Board, Department of Mathematics of National University of Singapore, ISS International School of Singapore, Beijing Organizing Committee of China Hope Cup National Mathematics Invitational Tournament, Canadian North American College of Arts and Sciences, Commonwealth Professional Certificate Committee (Canada), French Youth Education Institute, Royal New Zealand Business School, American Education Resource Service Center, American Association for International Economic and Cultural Exchanges (WACE) and Russian Education International Exchange Center.

In order to make the IMC international mathematics competition develop steadily, the organizing committee decided to form the IMC international mathematics competition alliance, and on this basis, the IMC international mathematics competition was launched.

IMC International Mathematics Competition has been widely supported and actively participated by the international community since it was held. The two-year development process has confirmed the fact that the activities can continue to develop and grow. At present, mathematics education and educational research institutions in more than ten countries and regions have expressed their willingness to join the alliance and have been participating in the competition since 2007.

After several years of development, IMC International Mathematical Competition Union and IMC International Mathematical Competition have been widely recognized by more and more participating countries, and have also been highly praised by participating schools, teachers and students. IMC international mathematics competition is different from international Olympic mathematics competition. However, the purpose of IMC international mathematics competition is to popularize and interest in mathematics learning, which has been actively participated by the majority of young mathematics lovers. Although many outstanding award-winning students have won scholarships from international schools and are regarded as important references for students to further their studies in some countries, the ultimate goal of IMC international mathematics competition will not change, making mathematics learning popular, interesting and international!
