How did Bombelli summarize the theory of algebraic equations?
Bombelli loves mathematics and studies hard in his spare time. He wrote five volumes of algebra between 1556 and 1560. In this book, Bombelli mainly systematically summarized the theory of algebraic equations. He adopted some novel symbols and put forward the method of approaching the square root with continued fraction for the first time. In order to systematically summarize the achievements of predecessors in solving cubic and quartic equations, Bombelli discussed the solutions of various equations from the basic definitions and symbols. He mainly studied five quadratic equations, seven cubic equations and forty-two quartic equations, and gave solutions and examples for each equation.
