Cao Xihua and his three students.
An effective development model. Xiao Gang won the third prize of the National Natural Science Award and the first prize of the Scientific and Technological Progress Award of the State Education Commission. Shi Jianyi, Wang Jianpan and Ye won the second prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of the State Education Commission respectively. Wang Jianpan, Shi Jianyi and Xiao Gang also won the Fok Ying Tung Outstanding Young Teacher Award respectively. In the past ten years, Cao Xihua has made great efforts to develop algebraic groups, and now he has achieved fruitful results. However, he is still teaching master students and doctoral students in person, and co-authored an Introduction to the Representation of Linear Algebra Groups with Wang Jianpan (the first volume has been published by Science Press). Co-authored Limited group representation theory with Shi Jian I (to be published by Higher Education Press). He said, "My career is in China." Cao Xihua often mentioned an inscription by Chen Shengshen, an honorary professor of East China Normal University, when he came to the Department of Mathematics at 1985: "A great mathematical country in 2 1 century".
I have translated many important academic works, such as Bond Layagin's Continuous Groups and Jacobson's classic Lie Algebra.
2. Cao Xihua has successively supervised six doctoral students, all of whose doctoral theses can be published in world-class magazines.
Third, while carrying out the research on "algebraic groups", we also actively introduce talents and further cultivate talents. Duan Xuefu graduate student Shen Guangyu and French national doctor Xiao Gang came to our school successively. Xiao Gang's and Chen Zhijie's achievements in algebraic geometry, Cao Xihua's, Wang Jianpan's and Shi Jian's achievements in algebraic groups, Shen Guangyu's and Qiu Sen's achievements in Lie algebra, and Zhu Fuzu's achievements in quadratic form have all been praised by scholars at home and abroad.
4. The Algebra Laboratory under the leadership has become the research center of China Algebra. H Bass, a world-famous mathematician and founder of algebraic K theory, said after visiting the Department of Mathematics that "the Department of Mathematics of East China Normal University left a good impression on me".
